Surround Sound Speaker Noise

I have a 2001 Monaco Dynasty. Intermittently when driving and inverter is on the left front Bose surround sound speaker will emit a loud noise like when you turn a radio on max and not on station. Turning off the inverter stops the noise. Does not happen when plugged into shorepower or on generator. Any thoughts?

Over The Air TV

Hi Gang!

Just about every topic has to do with satellite TV. Would like to know if anyone watches TV the old fashioned way and what kind of antenna or set up is best. Been there and done that with the satellite and can find just about all the TV we need on the regular networks (CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, CW and, being older than dirt enjoy Retro TV).

Thanks.

"Coach Dave"

Wi-Fi Booster and Antenna

To help us stay connected while on the road, I researched Wi-Fi boosters and antennas.

This setup looked like it would do the trick -- the Wave WiFi Rogue: http://www.landandseawifi.com/products/wavewifi-rogue

I installed it last week, just before we left on our trip. Well, two days into the trip, we got a chance to check it out. We were in a park in the panhandle of Texas. Fired up the computer -- no wireless networks detected by Windows Vista.

After setting up the Wave Rogue antenna and plugging it into the booster, nine Wi-Fi hotspots came right up. Several were open (non-encrypted) and we were able to get right to the Internet.

Less powerful antenna/boosters may help in campgrounds with weak signals, but this one also pulls in hot spots from miles away. We got on to an open hotspot in a coffee shop at least two miles away. I was impressed.

I debated on a permanent mount, but decided it was too much of a compromise -- high enough to clear the rooftop obstructions like A/Cs and it would be a "tree trimmer." Low enough that it would not have clearance problems, and the antenna would not have a clear line of sight over roof-mounted obstructions.

So, I mounted the antenna on the top of a expandable pole (got it at Home Depot in the paint section). Drilled a hole down low and about half way up the lower section so I can put a bolt and wing nut and secure it in U-shaped mounts on the side of the coach (from Zip Dee -- same as our awnings). The pole collapses to fit across the basement and extends to place the antenna above the roof. I routed the Cat 5 ethernet cable up from the basement to my "work station" and left enough in the basement that it can be erected without connecting/disconnecting. Takes less than one minute to erect/stow.

The booster operates on either 120 VAC or 12 VDC.

The user interface and documentation on the Wave Rogue are TOP-NOTCH. It took me less than five minutes after plugging it in the first time to pull up all the hot spots in the area, determine which were encrypted, and find a coffee shop with a good signal and get online.

Brett

Towing System Failure - 2002 Cavalier

A first time posting:

I have had a catastrophic failure of the towing system as mount on the 2002 Cavalier that I towed and will be towing again. I have written a detailed report that is too big to share with everyone here. Pictures this whole works. I will mail this report to anyone who would like to read the details.

In a short, the base plate was attached to the radiator support or the Front Body brackets, as GM calls them. The base plate has no attachment to the frame on either side. End result was that for some unknown reason the base plate tore the sheet metal brackets off at the frame.

The aux braking system would not have stopped the car for the safety switch used to active the system would have gone also. Net result, no battery to run the braking system. The car would have been an unguided missile.

The car has been repaired at a cost of $790.00 and the base plate has been reinstalled the same way by the Company. So far the Company has not responded to help defray any cost.

The Company mounted a newer base plate in the same manor, choosing not to support base plate to the frame but to support the sheet metal body brackets used to hold the radiator in the car.

Any thoughts, suggestion would be of a great help.

A link to the full report can be found @ http://www.scheitfamily.us/towing/failure.htm

Reply here on the forum for all to read or contact me directly @ ****.scheit@gmail.com

Thanks

****

Can't Run Both AC's on Gen-Set

I have a:
2001 Winnebago Adventurer 32V
Basement Air
Onan 5500 Generator.

Ok, now the problem. When I'm on shore power (30A) I can run both compressors on the basement air when the temperature difference calls for it.

When I run the gen-set, only 1 air will come on no matter what the temperature difference is.

On the Intellitec, it shows that I'm on 'Gen-Set' so it is sensing that I'm getting something from the generator and that the amperage with the one unit running is 14 amps. All of the lights are on for the systems that it would shed if necessary. 2nd Compressor light is on. The circuit breakers on the generator are both on.

Why am I not getting enough power to run them both. Is anyone else able to run both compressors on their basement air when on gen-set.

Thanks

Gatlinburg to Wilmington, NC

I will be traveling from Gatlinburg, TN to Wilmington, NC in mid October, driving a 40 foot DP, towing a car. Looks like I could either take a south route through Columbia, or a north route through Winston-Salem. Time is not a concern. I may stop over at a midway RV park to break up the trip. Any comments on which route might be better for motor home travel, as well as midway RV park recommendations will be much appreciated.
