TV antenna

Well here I am again asking a beginner question, I finally got my TV antenna to work, but I am not sure how to point the antenna in the right direction. I have installed the HD add on to my Wineguard Sensar. I cannot find a meter like that satellite to measure the signal strength, my picture on the station the greatest distance away goes and comes and I have tried to turning while the channel is on without much success. I have looked on the web to find a way to tune the antenna to the station without much luck, is this just a hit and miss or does thew antenna have a best receive end or side, which way does the antenna point. Over all I get a good picture if I am close to the station which is to be expected but I am 80 miles from Memphis and get one of the channels fair, the UHF I receive good. Suggestions as to how to increase signal strength.

THANKS

Has anybody toured Australia?

Hello, out there. Have any of you rented an RV and toured Australia for several months? I would appreciate your input and accounts of your adventures.

Refrigererator Error

The dometic refrigerator in our motorhome is flashing between the temperature and E 1. I can turn it off for a few seconds and it goes back to normal. Sometime within a few hours it will start flashing E 1 again. The user manual says this code means there is a hardware fault in the gas operation system. It only does this when it is in the ac mode. I recently had the ac disconnected for a few days and it ran on propane without flashing the error code. It is cooling fine in both modes. The motorhome was purchased by the original owner in Feb of this year. We purchased it in July so the factory warranty doesn't apply. I knew this but I called dometic to see if this was a common problem. All she could tell me was what the user's guide told me. I have an extended warranty and we have a campimg world nearby. I will take it to them when I get a chance but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Thanks for any info. ccmsm

Coach-Net

A little over a month back, I had a tire failure on a Sunday near dark. I called Coach-Net and got a gentleman and explained my problem and tire size and kept emphasizng my load range H need. After a few minutes, he called back with a couple of choices $$$ and I made my choice and was instructed to wait for a call from the tire company. That came in about 90 minutess and was a report that they did not have my tire in stock in any brand. I called back to Coach-Net and got a young lady who had to call the previous tire company to confirm and got back with me, at which time I again went into the load range H and she flatly told me that all tires my size were the same and, at the time, I didn't know any different. I was assuming they were the experts.

By the time the second tire company got out, the time was 9 p.m. and it was dark. All I could see was the tire size and it was OK, but when I got home I discovered the load range is G and the maximum weight capacity is slightly lower than my actual coach weight on any corner.

Now I have a tire that must be replaced again. I immediately called Coach-Net and was advised they would check out the phone records and get back. After a week, I called again and a gentleman read the contact info to me and it had numerous references to load range H and he advised he would turn it over to quality control. In a few days, I followed up with an e-mail to Coach-Net and since then I have received a "how was our service" survey form. I attached the detailed e-mail to the form and mailed it.

It has now been another two weeks and no response from Coach-Net. I feel they were in control of the tire and either they or the tire company messed up and I am left holding a $500 tire I can't use. I really think the last lady was so sure she knew everything, she failed to tell the tire company about the load range H. I have used them once before and was very pleased, but this is dissapointing when I have recommended them to several friends. I would at least expect a response from them. What should I do? Any suggestions would be appreciated. David White

Leaky Air Bag

I've got a 2002 36-foot Rexhall motorhome with manual air bags; valves are on the side of the coach. The chassis is Ford. I have a slight leak in my right side. I've checked the valve and line for leaks and can't find one. I'm suspecting the raising chamber itself. Is there a way to check this? If it turns out to be leaking, is there a fix or do I replace the bag itself? If that's the case, where can I find one?

Thanks

Membership Campgrounds

Recently we went to a sales pitch at a Thousand Trails campground. We were not that impressed with the one we toured, but did think that if you get the whole package they are trying to sell, it becomes expensive.

We also felt that they do have some nice sites, but is it worth it to tie yourself into something like that? Or would it be better to just go around free? One good thing: We did get $100 in free gas and a nice three days, so our stay was worth it.

Those darn red light cameras!

Okay, so I get a ticket in the mail the other day (no officer, just those red light cameras that take your picture) for $365 I do some research online and read about how they can issue more tickets if the cut the time of the yellow light in half. No, I don't go around running red lights, but sometimes the yellow light changes when you're already on your way through. I also saw on TV that some people are using their GPS to find the locations of the cameras and they warn you in time to slow down. Anyone tried one of these? The website I was looking at was phantom alert, http://phantomalert-review.blogspot.com/

CB Radios

We have a 40-channel CB (all in the Mic.) that has very bad reception. I have always understood that the antenna needs a good ground. Such as a mag, ant. mounted on the metal roof of a car. Monaco doesn't have a metal roof. My antenna is mounted on the fiberglass. Has anyone ever heard of grounding the antenna at the box inside of the coach? I don't use the CB that often, but when we are travling with some other people it is better then using the cell phone all the time. Look forward to your thoughts.
