Water Pipe Leaking

I hate to keep starting new topics. However I just replaced toilet and had everything hooked up turned on the pump and now I hear water running somewhere under the floor. It is draining onto the drive so it is at least not bringing water into the coach floor.
Anybody know how to access water lines without tearing out floor.
Coach is 1999 Fleetwood Discovery.

What warning signs should we look for when shopping for a used Class A? We're going to look at a 2007 Fleetwood Revolution who has had 2 owners. Is that something to be concerned about or just possibly a sign of the economic times?

GM 454 Vortec vs. 8.1 Workhorse

OK, I'm just a girl but I am looking at a motorhome with this GM454 in it, a 2002 Winnebago. How does that engine differ from the newer 8.1 Workhorse engines that are on the newer models? I don't need a lot of detail because I wouldn't understand it. Is it a dinosaur? Will it pull the MH and tow vehicle? Only has 18,000 on it.

Internal 120 V Power System Diagram - Travelaire

Hi,
My Travelaire c-class on Ford was built around 1978. I recently discovered that the 12 volt DC line goes up to 16 ... 18 volts.

There is obviously a basic wiring error in the system else it could not happen. = poor installation practice.

It might help me very much if I could get a diagram of the power system, to figure out where the 12 vdc leads are supposed to go, then discover which one is loose somewhere. The loose one messes up voltage regulation, I suppose.

115 vac is ok.

thanks.

Similar, but different: I had to rewire the Onan 4kw generator control circuit as wires were bad there too. Comparably easy, only 5 wires from panel to Onan.

Does this forum have a library of documents? I made a circuit diagram of my Onan control, not a copy of the © manual.

Great Smoky Mountains

Hi! We have been motorhoming for several years now and are currently putting together a trip to the Smoky Mountains over spring break. We will be in that area for about eight days - can anyone recommend places to stay and things to do? We are two adults and two teen-agers, 16 and 15, and two dogs. The teen-agers are really good about hanging out with the adults, so that's not an issue. We like outdoor activities (hiking, rafting) as well as sightseeing and entertainment. Are there any "must-do"s? How many days should we spend in the park itself? And outside of the park, should we look at Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, Gatlinberg or somewhere else? Thanks so much for any information or suggestions.

Where Do Old Working Motorhomes Go To Die?

Have a 1995 40 ft. Beaver motorhome without slideouts with 150k miles and it must be stored in a commercial yard at $60 per month. Runs fine but driver is having health problems so touring is limited to summer and now looking at giving up touring.

Looked at market value and it looks like a sale would not be worth the effort. Have thought about donating but haven't done anything about it yet.

Any suggestions?

Hydraulic System for Cooling Fan

Just had the radiator rebuilt and the R&R resulted in loss of fluid from the Hydraulic system that powers the cooling fans and power steering. After reassembly the tech topped off the reservoir with 1 1/2 gallons of AW 47 hydraulic oil. I checked the owner's manual and confirmed with Monaco service that the fluid should be Dexron 3 and does not mix with AW 47. The engine has not been started. I am thinking that I should remove lines from the lowest point of the Nelson Hydraulic Filter Reservoir, drain completely, replace filters and then refill with Dexron 3. Any other thoughts?

An Atrocity Is About To Take Place

Hello Brother Veterans,

To say I'm ticked off at the president of this United States is a an understatement. I read in a newspaper a week or so ago that our president has a desire to add Jane Fonda to the list of greatest women of the century. From July of 1965 through August of 1966 I served this country diligently in Danang, Viet Nam.

I am proud that I was able to serve our country in a time of need. It is an insult and a slap in the face for anyone to want to honor an outright traitor to our nation especially in time of war. Many may have forgotten about Ms. Fonda's exploits in North Viet Nam, but I haven't & never will.

Just wondered what other vets thought about this subject.

Thinking About Adding Safe Steer

Hello everyone.

I am thinking about adding a SafeSteer to my motorhome.

I have heard both good and bad about various steering assist units. I would appreciate any input anyone may have.

If you have used SafeSteer, what is your thoughts?

Add Electric Brakes To Master Tow Dolly?

Have found 3 used Master Tow dolly locally at $750 - $1000. None have brakes which I definitely want.

I see that I can buy backing plates, Hubs and a wire harness from Master Tow for $300. If the plate & hub are standard trailer parts, which I would think they are, I might be able to cut the cost.

Is this just a bolt on swap? I am very handy with tools, just haven't been able to look at the Master Tow units closely yet.

Manufacturer Disconnect

I started a thread a few days back on replacing a toilet seal on a Thetford Aqua Magic.

When I first called Thetford they suggested that I order a new seal as the toilet was not holding water.

I spent around $67.00 for a seal kit that contained a new seal along with an assortment of screws. In addition I figured I would buy an extender and ended up spending about $140.00 before it was all over.

Thought it was kind of pricey but better than buying a new toilet.

Little did I realize that I had to take the whole unit apart from stem to stern just to get to the seal replacement. Undaunted, I replaced the seal and put everything back together and found the blade was extremely difficult to open and close. Spring would not close it all the way.

I called customer service and the only thing they could suggest was to lube the bottom of seal and let it relax and become pliant. Well so much for that idea. Still didn't work.

So I made the decision to buy a new toilet. I called customer service and asked if I could return seal kit since the repair didn't work. Told them I would buy a new toilet probably a Bravura - around $250.00.

Figured they wouldn't want the seals back but thought I might get some type of credit since I was sticking with their product line.

Their response was basically no dice on any type of credit and I was pretty much out of luck. They even told me they would have charged me a 30% restocking fee if I hadn't opened the parts package.

Know it doesn't mean anything to them but I will be buying another mfg. toilet as a replacement.
