This is to pass on info that may be helpful to others having generator problems. For several months my Onan gas gen. in a 2006 Safari Simba has been stopping. I run the gen. under load every month, so I didn't think it was dirty carb. I finally took it to a RV gen repair place. After running it all day, it finally stopped. They replaced the fuel pump, and I have had no problems since. They said many times fuel pumps give random problems, run for a while, then stop. Hope this is helpful to anyone having similar problems.

On a hard to fix generator simular to this one I discovered foreign debris in the tank that would plug up the fuel pickup and we couldn't get rid of it so I drilled a cross hole near the end at the bottom end of the tube so nothing could block it.

What is the correct ignition timing on an old Onan CCKB 6kw 1800 rpm and how do you adjust it?

It is an old unit but has been a good one.

Thanks
Davw

Timing info. starts on page 37.

Since spark occurs when the points break, the gap is what controls the timing.
