About Me
Oh gosh! What can I say.
Joined the United States Marine Corps when I was 19 and retired from it in 1984. Stayed out in the civilian world for 10 years and then decided I needed job security and went to work for NASA, JSC, Houston as a Civil Servant, Information Security Specialist. (Affectionately called that "blankety blank" Computer Security Guy.) Started out with only two of us performing computer security on 13,000 employees, networks, etc., so yes I guess I was "blankety blank."
Besides Boy Scouts, we started, in 1974, with a 1972 Chevy Sport Van 20, equipped by TravCo. Slept two adults and two children. The top popped up, had a two burner propane gas stove, propane gas heater, and a portable potty. Had to pull the potty out to use it, but otherwise it was a bench behind the drivers seat to sit on.
My sense of humor is: When driving down the road in that vintage van and DW (Earlene) had to use it, I would await the appropriate time, and honk the horn shouting "18 wheeler coming up." I can still smile about that.
Having spent 23 years in the Military, the camping was spotty to say the least with a long hiatus. Well, you do have to consider I spent some time in military tents, including a 1 year tour in Vietnam. I retired from NASA in Feb 2007, and DW retired in Oct 2007. Come about August 2007 we purchased a Montana 3400RL and towed it with a 2005 F350 King Rand DRW 4x4. The set up tear down was physically demanding for my tired old bones, so in August 2008 we purchased the 2008 Winnebago Destination. That's it in my Avatar, titled Destination Sunset. We haven't named it yet. I want to call it the SKI Mobile, but DW is not enthused about that. (SKI = Spending Kids Inheritance)
Well, I think we have a name. We are going to call it "Citrus." it's just being polite. I'll explain sometime when we meet on the road.
Well, without all the other boring hoopla of my life, that is just about it.
And remember;
It doesn't matter what you ride, it's all the same wind.
And;
It doesn't matter what you camp in, you will have just as much fun!

Edited: 3/4/2009 - We renamed the SKI Mobile. We now call it "Citrus." Long story over coffee some day. We are just being polite.
