Death Valley Airport Sign.jpg

We landed here when we flew back after our stay in the motor home. The airport is 211 feet below sea level. This is the lowest airport in North America. It was hot when we landed and hotter when we took off. Hot weather degrades engine performance (hot air is less dense than cold air) in airplanes but low altitude improves engine performance (low altitude air is more dense than high altitude air). The two factors almost offset each other in this case.

We didn't delay when we got into the cockpit and closed the doors, it was time to get off the ground and fly!
