  1. I had the same problem 2 years ago, the dealer suggested I go with XZE tires, which are readily available. I did and am very pleased with no noticeable changes in ride, handling or noise level. An additional benefit is that, if you ever had a problem on the road and needed a replacement tire, it would be much more likely that a correct tire would be available.

  2. My 06 Winnebago (Freightliner chassis) uses a 12volt vacuum pump to run the heater/ defroster controls. It is located in the front of the coach in the generator access area, along with a small vacuum tank. You can hear the pump buzzing when the ignition is on and the heater is in any mode but off.

  3. I have had 3 Winnebago products, all of them had a screen and a ball-check type valve on the city water inlet this could be partially plugged with scale causing a restriction. You should be able to check this by disassembling the water inlet behind your service panel. Be sure that your system is de-pressurized and the pump is off before doing this or you will get wet and blow parts around.

  4. I winterized my 2006 Winnebago Tour last fall for the first time using the appropriate RV anti-freeze and the procedure from the factory manual. Now, on our first trip in the spring, I cannot get rid of the slight odor/taste in the water system. I have flushed all of the water taps several times for extended time periods but the taste/odor keeps coming back. The anti-freeze was purchased at Wal Mart, I don't remember the brand.

Anyone have similar problems or a solution?

  5. An option to wiring a coach powered 12v plug for a braking system is to use an inexpensive "jump start" system. These usually have a 12v outlet and have plenty of capacity to power a brake buddy style system for a days tow, then can be charged overnight. I have used one of these (harbor freight) for up to 3 days without charging.

  6. Purchased new tires using the FMCA/Michelin program at Superior tire in Portland, Oregon, and was very satisfied with the experience. Make sure you contact them in advance to allow them to get a "fresh" set for your rig. They changed 6 tires on my MH in under 2 hours, have a nice waiting room, and were very familiar with the Michelin/FMCA program.

  7. I have used my cell phone compass to set up my MH satellite (direct TV) many times, typically with success. Don't waste your money on signal finders, the direct tv setup signal strength audio works just as well, especially as you are inside your coach when aiming your dish. Be aware that there are many things on your MH that can drastically alter a compass reading, I always go outside away from the MH to get a bearing. Your coach would have to be really out of level to have much effect on the signal. As a last resort when I have had problems I walk around the RV park and see what direction other dishes are pointed, just to double check my compass.

  9. My 2006 Winnebago (freightliner) has a 7 pin connector with a 20 amp pin that is hot when the MH ignition is on. This pin is fused on the MH side. I have used this to power a toad charger (the system with diodes) for years with good results. I tow an Acura MDX that has a Navigation system and use a brake buddy braking system and have had no toad battery issues. Without the toad charge system my car battery would be dead after about 4 hours of towing.

  10. I have a 2006 Winnebago Tour with the same electrical system and power management system as your rig. I also have the same problem, the system will not recognize a 50 amp hookup. I have run all of the diagnostics recommended by Intelletech and concluded that I needed a new system control board. I have seen a number of other coaches with this equipment have the same problem.

An easy and inexpensive solution (free) on a Winnebago made MH is to remove the 12v control power fuse for the Intelletech system, located behind the circuit breaker panel cover under the bed (on your coach). As long as you are plugged into a 50 amp service, this solution allows everything to work just fine, you don't need the monitor features unless you are connected to a 30 or lower amp service.

If you get stuck somewhere without a 50 amp connection, replace the fuse.

You will notice that your A/C unit will work more effectively with 50 amps (or the fuse pulled) as the system will cut out one half of your cooling unit if it senses 30 amps or less.

Pulling the fuse may not work on other manufacturers MHs, my friend's 2005 Beaver has the same system with the same problem, removing the fuse blocks a bunch of circuits and equipment from working.

  11. I use my direct tv receiver from home in my MH and 5th wheel trailer routinely. Check to make sure that your box is aligned to the dish, my MH has a selector box. Check your satellite set up using the feature on the direct tv menu, if possible, check your neighbors set up and match the settings (dish type, connection type.)

Since you are sharing a dish, you may need a signal booster for the satellite signal, my home has one.

Note that if you are far from home you will not be able to receive local broadcasts

    Good luck

  12. I would take hwy 99 to Stockton, then connect with I-5 North to Williams. Take hwy 20 east through lake county and connect with hwy 101 north. I have driven this route in my 36' MH towing an Acura MDX several times. If you are hesitant to drive on twisty, two lane roads, avoid 101 in Northern California, there are numerous slow, narrow spots, but this road is much more RV friendly in Oregon.

  13. The MIll Casino RV park in North Bend Oregon is a really great place. In Northern CA the Benbow RV park just south of Garberville is a nice park near many redwoods national parks. I have made that trip numerous times with a 36' MH towing an Acura MDX without problems, if you take your time. I would avoid Hwy 1 in CA, it,s just not suitable for a rig of any size. I would also suggest taking Hwy 20 east through lake county to I-5 avoiding the SF Bay Area.

  14. I would take Hwy 101 north from LA to Pismo Beach, CA, stay at Pismo Coast Village RV park. This puts you in easy driving distance of Hearst Castle and Morro Bay, and only an hour north of Santa Barbara. I would then Go north to Paso Robles and take Hwy 41/46 to I-5 and avoid the Bay Area. You can get to the wine country using hwy 20 between I-5 and Hwy 101 or just stay on I-5. Great RV parks in Northern CA include Benbow on 101 or several in Redding on I-5. In Oregon there are many great parks, including 7 Feathers RV in central Oregon, the Mill Casino RV park in Coos Bay, Outdoor Resorts in Newport. The Coast Road (101) in Oregon is really a decent road in an RV, but the Northern CA 101 is not so good.

    Have a great trip.

  15. I had one of those aw @#$% moments when leaving a storage lot with my 2006 Winnebago Tour which left me with a broken window on the drivers side living room slideout. Luckily, only the outer panel was broken so I still have an intact inner pane.

Does any one have experience or a recommendation for a repair facility in the Palm Springs, CA area who "does windows"?

The window frame shows some damage so this is likely more than just a glass replacement.

  16. I flat towed a 2006 CRV for many miles, and none of the miles registered on the odometer. Review your owners manual carefully on flat towing, it sounds like you left the key in the "ON" position and not "off with steering unlocked" as is specified. My Honda was an AWD with Automatic Trans. It should not be necessary to remove any fuses or make any modifications.
