  1. The first agent I talked to was going to set up a quote, but at the last minute she said the high dollar underwriters would need to approve it before she could proceed. They were the people that said it was to expensive for them to cover. I have not had a claim or ticket in years. I asked her to ask the underwriter again. She said no, that the decision was final, sorry - good bye!
  2. Just contacted the phone number provided in the FMCA magazine. I was interested in obtaining a quote for my 2005 Country Coach Magna. I was told the dollar value of the coach was too high for Geico to insure. I was told they were mainly interested in less expensive RV units. I expressed my surprise, since my unit is worth no more than $180K. I have quotes from a number of companies, and the dollar value of my coach was never an issue. I believe the ad run by Geico is misleading. The company needs to be banned from placing advertisements in the FMCA Motor Coaching.
  3. The leveling system on my 2005 Country Coach Magna has experienced a catastrophic failure of the rear control box. It shorted out and burnt-up the main circuit card. I am concerned about driving the coach to a repair facility. Has anyone else experienced this problem and will I be putting the coach at risk to drive it. Any thoughts are comments will be appreciated. Stuck in an RV park.
  4. Update on the engine - both turbos are frozen-up. Awaiting a visit by the extended service adjuster before they are replaced.
  5. Rich, I was told it is frozen up. The tech could not turn it by hand.
  6. The hi pressure turbo is toast, do not know about the #6 cylinder.
  7. Andy, I am with the PPOA also. The coach is at the CAT dealer in Houston.
  8. Herman, it has a 2 stage engine brake. Not sure if that is a Jake brake. I asked that question and was told no it was not the problem. Any idea how that is tested for as the problem. Thanks, Gary
  9. Rich, it happen all of a sudden while pulling on to an interstate. No warning, engine has always been very clean burning and quiet running. Engine was not compression tested. It was pressure tested. 90 psi was forced into the cylinder and bleed time was noted. It was within normal limits, per the tech.
  10. Brett, the tech is speculating the top of the piston melted without breaking and has caused the compression to drop below firing level. I am not sure I believe that as this engine only has 40k miles, oil changed every year and as not smoked or leaked oil since I have owned it the last three years. It was been a great engine. I am hoping someone out there has seen this happen before and it was some weird cause not requiring an engine dis-assemble. 16 to 20 grand to rebuild the engine is a lot of money out of the pocket.
  11. Coach is currently at a CAT dealer. Engine diagnostic was run and it showed number six cylinder was not firing and there is a lot of crankcase blow-by. Tech said it was injector. Replaced same and still had the same problem. He did a pressure check on cylinder, that was Ok. He is now saying the engine needs to be pulled and head taken off for piston inspection. 1. Has anyone with a C13 had this same problem, and 2. Any suggestions on what might be going on. thanks in advance - frustrated owner
  12. 1. How many miles do you typically dinghy tow your vehicle yearly? 10,000 – 15,000 2. What is the total tow mileage you have on your vehicle now? 10,000 3. What is the total tow mileage you expect to put on the vehicle before you upgrade to a new vehicle? unk 4. When towing, what is the average amount of time between stops? (be it restroom or fuel)? 45 mintues 5. How often do you stop for a period of 10 min or more? (be it restroom, stretch, eat, fuel)? 3 - 4 6. What is your preferred cruising speed? 65 - 70 7. Do you use a rock shield? No 8. Where does the rock shield mount (bumper, towbar, dinghy, or... so what type)? N/A Comment: I bought a 2011 GMC Terrain because it can be towed 4 down. The only hassle is the need to pull a fuse every time it is towed. The only complaint I have is the front of the car sits very low and it tends to hang up on parking curbs.
  13. My dash video unit has bit the dust. Need it looked at and possibly replaced with a different unit. Is there a good and reasonably price shop in in the LA area. Thanks in advance

  16. Hi. I am Gary and my wife is Brenda. We just moved up to a motor coach from a 5th wheel. We have been in the RV lifestyle (off and on) since the early '70s. I am semi retired (consulting) and planning on doing a whole lot more traveling since we bought our motorhome. It is a 2005 Country Coach Magna, 42'. We previously had a 36' 5th wheel and before that, way back in the '70s, we had a pop-up. I am retired Navy and retired aerospace. We take delivery of our new, to us, motorhome next week. Look out, Colorado.
  17. I would like to thank all that have responded to my question. After driving a 45 footer, I have decided that a 40 footer will be more in my comfort zone. As to the response about full timing, yes we do plan to full time. We are in the initial stages of making that happen. Cheers to all
  18. I am thinking about moving up to a large motorhome, over 40 feet in length. I would like to hear from folks who have these types of motorhomes. Is there really an issue with finding RV parks that will accommodate them? Are there any other issues to consider? Thanks
  19. Does anyone have an FX35 as a toad? My wife loves her FX35 and does not want to part with it. However, my online research to date seems to point to hauling it on a flatbed trailer as the only option. Am I missing something? I was thinking in terms of a dolly, but I can not find a driveshaft de-coupler for it. Can I keep the boss happy, or should I break the news that we need a vehicle that is more "toad-able"? Thanks, in advance.
