  1. Hi. My name is Mycle Brandy. I am walking across America for the American Stroke Assn. I have had 4 strokes. I am walking to raise awareness of the dangers of stroke and the new techniques being used to minimize the damages caused by stroke. I left Newport Beach, Ca on my 59th birthday, Valentine's Day, this year. I expect to arrive in Washington DC on or about October 10, 2010. I am currently between Phoenix, Az and Payson, Az. I am looking for assistance in completing my project. What would help me the most would be someone who has the time and is not opposed to nationwide publicity to follow me across the nation to provide a place for me to sleep and some companionship as I travel through this beautiful country. As I cross America I plan to visit hospitals to encourage stroke victims and let them know having a stroke is not the end of the world. They can recover and live productive lives. I also plan to discuss with local and national media the dangers of a sedentary life-style and the new discoveries and techniques of overcoming the damages caused by strokes. I know that it might be difficult for one person or family to assist me all the way to Washington so I'm hoping that I might find assistance from any who can help along the way. In furtherance of that objective I would like to give you some places where you can confirm my legitimacy and assist where you can. The best place to confirm my legitimacy is on my website; walkingacrossamerica.org. There are links there where you can offer assistance or just cheer me on. You can also see the press coverage I have received so far. Also there is an updated map where you would be able to see where I am and if its in an area in which you could lend assistace. Another is my Facebook fan page (I have over 700 fans) at "Walking Across America With Mycle Brandy". On this site you can see the support I have and chat with me in real time when I'm in areas that are not too isolated. Currently I am pushing a cart with some camping gear and other belongings. If I have to continue doing this without support I can and will do so. However, because of the damages caused by my strokes this is very difficult to do physically. The physical exertion of pushing a 100+lbs cart up a mountain is demanding and leaves me physically exhausted. I can and have overcome this exhaustion by the next day but it is difficult. Also, I have been in some locations where gun enthusiasts have free reign to fire in any direction including, sometimes directly over my head. I am looking for people with kind hearts. I know they are out there somewhere. Hopefully some will be in this room. Thank you.
