don't remember it happening before, jus last couple years

Clark, Your inverter Might need some repair work. The units do affect a number of the newer appliances and highly resistivity types of equipment.

Had to replace our 2500 series Modified sine wave unit 4 years ago because it was the pest option for us rather then having it repaired.  When with the pure sine wave model.

They work much better, The biggest job was rewiring the coach electrical system; because the new units do not come with the 2 internal circuit beakers used to power the microwave and the entertainment circuits on our coach.

2008 Monaco Camelot. Just changed the surge tank from the plastic to the metal one. Started up and warning light came on steady. Any suggestions?

Witt, I have a feeling you are referring to the check engine light.

The first item I would check is the coolant sensor connection  and make sure there is enough  coolant in the New over flow / expansion tank.

Newly purchased Entegra Reatta XL40Q2- - my old Tiffin had an overflow when filling freshwater.  While filling my Entegra freshwater tank, I came within 5 gallons of having a real big mess inside m coach.  How does one know when the freshwater tank in my coach is full?

Short of watching the Bluetooth app’s progress while filling the tank (which doesn’t seem very accurate to me as a process to follow) I am at a loss.

Jeff, Welcome to the FMCA Forum !

My over flow or vent line  is connected at the fresh water fill area behind the door.

The fact that you got as much water into the tank ,the air was venting out somewhere.

hi. Recently went to Florida in our 2021 Entegra Vision 29s.We have had a horrendous squeal develop-at speeds over about 35 in our toll windows.  They are shut tight, etc.

The red star is the sliding toll window.  The blue star is the fixed window.  The arrow points to the junction of the fixed window and a flimsy aluminum bar that separates the two windows.  The arrow points to the area that separates and the air comes in because the flimsy bar seems to slightly bow inward with drive speed.  I was thinking a neat bead of sealant down through there would cure the noise and not affect window functioning.   Thoughts?  I hate to drive our rig 2 h one way for a fix and maybe get into replacing windows if I can fix even if it’s a warranty fix.  Thank you

Could you post a picture of the stationary and the moving portion of the windows for the  group? It is hard to see what or how they tried to seal the gap between them from the attached picture.

would the fuel pump be intermittent? I think it is unlikely a fuel pressure issue.

There is a recall from GM that the Distributor fails on the 8.1 L engine. The problem happens when the engine gets hot. There is a recall on the early 8100 series engines. This issue was covered on my engine.

The other issue is with a defective cam sensor ! That was not covered at the time mine failed.

    http://www.justanswer.com/uploads/Bluegorilla/2009-01-26_044700_8100_crankshaft_sensor_recall.pdf

    https://www.ecityworks.com/chevy-workhorse-81-liter-problems

You will need to see if GM and see if the Warranty was performed.by a Chevrolet or GM service center. The recall does cover the One Ton trucks, The RV chassis should fall into the Workhouse Chassis built with the 8100 Series Engines.

    Good Luck!

    Rich.

My 8100 engine has been working great sense the Cam and Crank shaft sensors where replaced.

Just found this information. At this wed sight https://www.ecityworks.com/chevy-workhorse-81-liter-problems

It appears there other issues listed also.

The Chevy 8.1-L V8 engine has a problem with carbon building up in the throttle body. This carbon problem makes the throttle body valve stick in place. This allows too much air into the engine cylinders, causing the engine to misfire. Once more air is permitted into the engine, more fuel is allowed to enter the cylinder heads.

I have a 2017 Forest River w/L9 engine on a  Freightliner XCR chassis. Shortly after new purchase, had loud grinding noise every time did left or right turn. Sounded exactly like a vehicle with no or low steering fluid.  However, the steering did seem to perform as it should. There were no leaks in the system. Took to Freightliner while still under warranty. They said it was a common issue and nothing was wrong wit it. Now, a few years later, the noise is much worse and there is very noticeable play in the steering wheel. Again took to Freightliner. Service manager confirmed there was an issue an he called FCCC to see if any recalls on the steering gear box or anything else.  FCCC told the service manager, and I quote ...  "we get several calls a day about the steering gear box noise and we have determined that nothing is wrong with the units."

When he said 'several calls a day" - that sounds like a real clear sign there is an issue and/or defect somewhere in the design.  Note, our coach has just turned up 9,900 miles and has never had any damage. The alignment and toe-in were checked and found to be right on spec.  Clearly not an over used or abused coach.

Now, after several thousands of dollars in repair, I am wondering - how many of these units are out there with this issue and why has Freightliner refused to fix them. How many years of production does this issue cover? I would like to hear from anyone else who has or knows of someone who has been thru this. According to FCCC, there must be a lot of us.

After getting the steering gear box replaced, the shop (not Freightliner) also had to replace the steering fluid pump.  Seems the pump may not have been designed to put as much pressure into the system as it needed for proper operation.  For techies - the steering gear box is part THP60015.

Bob, you might look at this link.

What was changed in your case?

2004 HR Ambassador - when engine running with AC on Max I’m getting negative 10 on low side and 100 on high side (90 degrees outside). Engine off after 30 min I’m getting 100 on low and 100 on high.

It’s the SCS system and says it holds 50oz of refrigerant.

I tried dumping 20oz can of r134a into it but no change in pressures.

Did start noticing icing in the TXV valve , but can’t say if it had been doing before refill. But def coming the elbow section of that valve at this point.

Can I keep adding r134 hoping it kicks the condenser on or do I risk damaging something? Is there a way to use gauges to avoid over fill?

Not a good idea to keep adding Coolant to the system without using a AC charging manifold. To easy to overcharge the system and cause some expensive repair bills!

You need to know if the low side of the system is creating a vacuum. Then one needs to know what the high pressure side is doing pressure wise !

Think it might be best to have an AC tech do the job, It is a lot different then adding a few ounces to a small Automotive system.

  9. Looks like the coach has close to 100 K on the Engine.

I kind of wounder if the cooling system has been checker, including the water pump, Engine Thermostat and when the system was flushed  last ?

I see that it has a 8.1 L engine. Are there any codes stored in the ECM?

I have a Damon Daybreak Classic 3204 and I change over to LED lights and have a problem with my bathroom light. It is a double light bulb . On it works great, but off the left side stays on half bright. Does anyone have a fix.  Andy

Andy, Welcome to the FMCA Forum!

Did you install Diodes  in the  wiring ? It is required if there are other incandescent Lights in the same 12 volt circuit used to power The bathroom circuit! You may need some personal help to install what is called steering diodes in the fixture in the bathroom.

Thanks guys. I fixed it. Seems my three year old was playing in the seat and jammed the hazard switch. I fussed with it, got it back in alignment and it works perfect.

We are excited for our first trip. We felt it would be wise to buy something old and depreciated for a few years to see how much we use it before jumping off the deep end.

All well that ends well, And yes welcome to the FMCA Forum !

Thanks for the information. If you need some chassis information in the future, just add the model number of the chassis.

    Hi

I just bought a 2002 Winnebago Adventurer on a workhorse chassis. Getting ready for our first outing and the right turn signal is Stuck on. Hazards work. Left does not work.
swapped out one of the two flashers as I had one with no change. Thoughts?

What is the model of the Workhorse Chassis?

  13. Supersquid, You could help the members by posting Year of the Coach.

This is the best way to get the. best information. How long has the unit been in storage and was the unit winterized, before being placed in storage ?

Also !  Was the oil changed before being placed in storage. Once we know this then the members can offer a set of possible starting  points.

Has the Coach been connected to shore power all the time it has been in storage ?

Pulled 2017 fleetwood bounder out of storage and recharged and reconnected batteries.   There was a fault showing on the command center with "OPEN GND" which I assume is that somewhere a ground wire is not connected.  This is preventing any lighting even when running from shore power from coming on.  I verified all by battery connections were as they were before storage (labeled lines, took picture prior to removal), but I am not sure where to begin looking.  Any help/guidance would be appreciated.

Welcome to the FMCA Forum !

Could you post the Model coach you have? and the model and make of the Command Center.

Need to know is your Coach is a Gas or Diesel powered unit.

I have a feeling you missed a cable some where. There are more then one cable on more then one  Connection and it is easy for one to drop out of sight when removing the cable from there connections.

You mentioned pictures in your original post, could you attach them to your next post?

I have a 2003 American Tradition on a Spartan chassis. My marker/taillights are not working. The turn signals and stop lights work, the headlights work.
I have checked and replaced the fuse and the relay switch in the main fuse box to no avail. I’m looking for suggestions on where to look next.....help!!!!

Welcome to the FMCA Forum !

Do you have 12 volts at any of the 12 volt sockets? when just the marker lights are turned on. Measure both wires between any or all the marker lights  to a good ground.

The second or first thing to check i you do not read any voltage between the marker light terminals at the main light switch and ground. You my also have a failed relay in the marker light lights.

Is the coach wired with a  ICC switch no the  or near the drivers seat ?

We are looking for a front fender skirt for the 1999 Coachmen Santara.  Purchased one from a company that was closest to the measurements, but it does not fit the front without having to modify the fiberglass.  It does fit the rear fender well but not the front.  Is there anywhere to get a fender skirt to fit the front without having to modify it?

This link Might be of some help.

Lost my directional signals, brake lights while traveling.  worked fine when tow car hooked up. also hazzard flashers don't work.  Have looked in all possible places for blown fuses or relays etc .            any suggestions? the coach is a 07 Beaver Patriot Thunder. Thanks

Your make and model year of the coach might have an extra Relay and fuse box in the rear marker lights circuit, I'm woundering if the front marker lights are working?

    Rich.

  18. Tony. The item that you think needs to be replaced might be a Zener diode.

Is there a voltage present at on end of the device in question or both ends of the device? What is the reading, voltage wise?

Can you include a picture of the board that might have a Board part number on it. Whose Monitoring system is in your coach ?
