We stayed in the Grand Canyon Trailer Village Campground in a 30' Class C a few years ago and there were larger Class A motorhomes in the campground. It's pretty convenient because it's within walking distance of a store for supplies and the park service runs a shuttle from there right to the edge of the Canyon.

I used a roll of flexible metal that's used for plumbing or automotive repair. It already has holes in it for the bolts to go through and is flexible enough to bend around the ladder, but thick enough so vibration shouldn't cause it to break. Cost $1.99 at my local hardware.
