  1. How is with it not having to shovel snow to go to work? Hope all is going good for you and Ronnie.

Bobbie and I are doing well. I am having two new 15,000 AC/Heat Pumps installed Friday.

I went to have the tech look the coach over to see if he had everything. All was well until I started to leave. The coach would not start. The starter just made a grinding  noise. I thought I may have had a stuck solenoid. When I got under the coach with a hammer to tap on the solenoid I found the starter was about to fall off. Two of the three bolts were missing and the third was barley hanging on. I tighten it and got home. I had to play the guessing game to come up with the size bolts I needed Because I could not pull the remaining bolt to match it up. I found the correct thread (1/2-20) but got it too short. It is in but not what I would like, I will get a half inch longer and I should be ready to go to Tucson on the 11th.

We may try to make Florida next winter, If so we will look you up

Herman, all is well down here. Loving the area and all the things to do. Every weekend is another festival of some sort! Strawberry season now, lots of those. Next is garlic festival, I was warned,, I’m not allowed to attend 😂. Then comes the seafood festivals 😋
look us up, we live in Port St Lucie, south end near Stuart Florida.
I need to update the AC’s on ours. Trying to plan some trips, haven’t done that yet, waiting on the snowbirds to leave.

the starter bolts is very strange unless not torqued right on the last installation. I’d take this opportunity to get rid of those 12 point bolts with  something else.

I plan on using Grade 8 with either lock tight or lock washers. Leaning towards washers since there is so much dirt and grease.

  2. Will be traveling for the next 3 weeks and may not be on the Forum too much, keep your good eye on it.

Will be in Manchester Iowa for 6 days. Then Red Bay, AL for 4.

  3. You were saying that the Forum being down was my fault. Well it wasn't and I worked very hard to get it back up. I can take humor just not sarcastic humor.

  4. Brett, are you aware that Joe Leamont is no longer a member of FMCA. I was sorry to learn it. He is a very knowledgeable source of information but can he continue as a FORUM Moderator?

  5. Which one, having a company recondition them or replace with Granite. $7.90/sq.ft sounds like replacement.

  6. Ole Sarge, Welcome to the Forum,

Do I note 24 years service? Thank you for each and every one of them.

When you are in Perry look for me riding around on a Golf Cart with SAFETY OFFICER on the windshield. Would be nice to meet you. If I can help you while there please don't hesitate to ask.

  7. Joe, the coach went into their shop on a Thursday around 4 pm. They ran a short diagnostic and said that it would be the next morning to do a full check. We parked in one of their three 50 amp/full hook ups.On Friday morning they found the problem and had to order the part from Overland Park Kansas. The first shift a had removed everything but the pump. The pump arrived around 4 PM and the second shift remove and replaced the pump.

They finished up at 1:45 AM Saturday morning. Just as I signed the credit card ticket the tech came in to say there was a problem, leaking oil. They offered to stay and get it done but I told them to go home and when the shop opened on Monday morning (closed Sat. and Sun.) to get on it.

We moved the coach back to the hook up and on Monday morning they got right on it and had us out by 2 PM. I told them they did a good job and that "S" happens.

I did get another ticket with a $972.00 charge and then showed a $972.00 credit. Their paperwork trace.

The leak turned out to be the "O Ring" that seals the port for the oil to the pump for lubrication. If either fell out when putting the pump in or failed to put it on in the first place.

All and all it wasn't too bad of an experience.

      Herman and Bobbie,

We had a great time in Rusk.  Really enjoyed the experience of the train ride.  We're headed north so won't be in Palacios.  Maybe we'll be able to catch a rally in the fall on our way back south.

Right now we're sitting at the KOA in Hot Springs, AR.  Thunderstorms all morning and more forecast for the next few days.  We'll see what we can and then head on to the St. Louis area.  We plan to be in Texas in late October.

      Tom

  9. Mike,

Welcome to FMCA. No you don't have to belong to a chapter to go. It is open to all FMCA members. You may call Charlie Adcock. 501-278-6172.

He will be happy to tell you all  about it. A good way to enjoy the Rally and get to know alot of folks is to Volunteer. They need people in Parking, Security, Trams and more.

  16. Yes I use the M G Eng. Brake unit. They are just North of Athens, TX on Hwy 19. They have 2 priced units. New with a life time warrenty and a remanufactured unit with a 5 year warrenty. It is a very simple unit but works great. We pull a Yukon LX and before we put on the MG I had no problems pulling but really noticed the weight when we stoped.

Don't even know it there with the MG.
