  1. I agree with Kaypsmith and use the RV Plus Card for the discounts at Flying J, Pilot and I believe Road Ranger is also part of Pilot. Never have an issue with enough room to maneuver and usually go to truck lane to fuel if they don't have a dedicated RV island, where it is so much quicker to fuel with the larger nozzles.
  2. I just traded my 2014 Jeep wrangler for a 2017 Grand Cherokee and am waiting for the new base plate to arrive from e-trailer, of course I could not be lucky enough to have the same base plate. Anyway I really am enjoying my new Grand Cherokee. I hated to part with my Wrangler as it was a great Vehicle the only problem was storage and getting grandkids in and out of back seat with car seats. Grand Cherokee weighs about 1000lbs more but still within my DP capabilities. If I read the instructions correctly with the new base plate I do not need the bar across, do anyone know if that is correct?
  3. I have a TPMS system i installed on my new coach and have the solid valve extended with the rubber fill to keep the inner one secure. I do notice the when I check my tire pressure with my gauge compared to the TPMS the reading are never the same. The TPMS always reads lower than my tire gauge, I keep 110 lbs in my tires as I have weighed my coach and referred to the Michelin pressure charts, which called for less than 100lbs. My TPMS will usually show a difference of about 5-7lbs less than my tire gauge. Anyone else notice this or should I invest in a new tire gauge
  4. Thanks to everyone for your help and suggestions, Thor did a good job fixing everything else wrong with this coach but the Aqua Heat is still only able according to thermostat heat the coach to 55 degrees when it is 17 outside. As I stated earlier it is probably warmer in here than 55 and was never uncomfortable. My bride and i like it a little cool when sleeping so as long as we are not frozen we are OK. Sorry for being absent we left Thor and traveled home to PA and am trying to get caught up on everything. I will take your suggestions and call Aqua Heat and see what they tell me. Appreciate everyone's help
  5. Herman, thanks for your thoughts, what Thor is telling me is that Aqua Heat told them that with the temperatures at 17 and the way the coach is insulated the system is doing the best it can. They say the heat coming out the vents is the correct temperature but is not capable of heating the coach more than what it is doing. The thermostat is located near the front of the coach and the biggest drag on the heat is the windshield even when parked so although the thermostat is reading 55 it is probably a little warmer than that in the coach. I am not real happy with this news so will have to see what else they tell me when they are finished with it
  6. In PA it was $89 but it just went up to a little over a $100 but you do need an annual safety inspection, which is not a bad thing.
  7. An update to my questions and concerns about my Aqua Heat System. I left Kansas City, twins are doing great and so is my daughter, thanks for all of your good wishes. On our way back to PA we stopped in Wakarusa Indiana, home to Thor Industries for some additional warranty work on my coach. One of my issues is I do not feel the Aqua Heat System is functioning properly. The coach has not been really cold but it has not been warm and comfortable either. When we are all cloded up and on the road we essentially have no heat at all as the dash heat does not work properly and the most of the vents for the Aqua Heat are covered when the slide outs are in. Thor did find and seems to have corrected the heat issue with the dash heat, hoses were not routed correctly and there was not any sealant around the firewall or for the steps so cold air was blowing in unrestricted. Won't know if it is completely corrected until we hit the road but there is definitely more heat coming from the front now. Here at Thor, they have been working on it since Monday(3 days) and found some kinked hoses which they have corrected. They work on it from 7am to 3 pm move it outside to a parking place with Hookups and we spend the night in it. While in the shop they have cranked up the system and it works really well. When we stay in it overnight I set the thermostat to 70 and the system runs all night and when I wake up it is 55 in the coach. The temperature outside has been as low as 17 but the system cannot keep the coach even close to the temperature we set it at. They have replaced the thermostat and calibrated the sensors but has not made a difference. Today I think they are calling Aqua Heat for some help. Thor has been very helpful has taken care of some other issues for me but we are stuck on this heating system. The system is set up for 3 zones, front and back in the coach and the third zone which is tied to the back zone, covers the basement area and the water tanks. Anybody have any ideas that I could pass onto the techs here at Thor as I really don't want to be here much longer, although with the weather Pa is having at this time it is not a bad thing we are here. Appreciate any suggestions
  8. Have less than 10,000 miles on my new coach and when I started the engine after 3 and 1/2 weeks at a campground I had the Malfunction Indicator Lamp light up. I thought it was a check engine light and also thought it was telling me I had water in my fuel since I parked for 3.5 week with only a half a tank and the temperature varied from 70 to 22. We were at TT in Advance NC. Engine seem to be functioning properly but I added a treatment to take care of water but it did not take care of issue. Drive from NC to Kansas and coach performed up to expectations. When we arrived in Kansas I tried to call a Cummins dealer to check it before we settled into another campground for a couple of months but no one could take me for at least a week. Any ideas on what this could be, I have 3 similar warning lights ( only one is illuminated), one is stop engine, the other is check engine light and the third which is the one illuminated is the Malfunction Indicator Light. I am thinking it has something to do with emissions but am not sure. I know a stop at a Cummins dealer and they will put a code reader on it and know exactly what it is, and I will do that when I am ready to move again, just looking to see of anyone has any ideas, coach is still under warranty. Thanks in advance for any help
  9. Well this is my first winter with my new coach and the aqua-heating system. We are in Kansas City because my daughter just gave birth to twins so we are helping her out. We arrived in the campground on December 16 with a almost full tank of fuel (150 gallons). The first weekend here it dropped to -8 degrees but the rest of the time has been in the 30's 40' and even 50-'s. On Friday when it was in the 20's the coach seem cold so after checking settings on system etc I checked my fuel gauge and low and behold I only had a quarter of a tank of fuel remaining so the Aqua Heat System would not work on the burner. I was amazed as I had not expected it to go through 100 gallons of diesel fuel in less than 30 days. Had a choice to unhook and go to fueling station or bring fuel to coach. I brought fuel to coach, 80 gallons in 2- 5 gallon containers, was too tired could not do any more. I am very disappointed I used that much fuel in such a short amount of time. With the exception of that first weekend it has not been extremely cold. 20's at night 40's during the day with an occasional colder day and an occasion warmer day. The electric heat cannot keep coach warm but each day I am turning the burner off and only running it at night. I am now trying to use heat pumps when I can. Well live and learn but not really that impressed with system, could something be wrong with system, I did have a lot of problems with coach including aqua heat when I bought coach and it is still under warranty Any thoughts
  10. I purchased a 2016 Tuscany 40DX which is a Thor product. We signed the papers in January but would not take delivery until they fixed some items which took them to March. We finally took delivery on March 24, had it a week and it went back. Got it back and took it on a long trip at west, 5000 miles and boy did we find all the issues this coach had. The final straw was when water started pouring in on my wife when sitting at kitchen dinette. I contact president of Thor and told him I did not want the coach anymore because there was so much wrong with it I did not think it could be fixed, I asked if it was a prototype and not intended to be sold. They came and got my coach and took it back to the factory, had it for 3 weeks and then flew my wife and I out there. We had a list of 45 items that needed attention. Things like GPS did not work, batteries would not charge when driving, water leaks, shelf in master closet fell completely out of the wall, wheel well came loose and was banging as we drove down the street, I could go on and on. They also found some items that I did not know about. To Thor's credit they did fix everything and promised to reimburse us for gas and tolls to drive it home. We have some other issues but for the most part all is good NOW. This coach should never have been allowed to leave the factory with all that was wrong. The dealer tried but it was always, we have to get authorization and order parts and I refused to let them keep my coach while they waited. They are setting up the Hershey Show so they are sending one of their Tech's to the campground I am staying at to see what he can so to repair the couple of items that have happened since we were at the factory. For anyone that is having an issue with their new coach my recommendation is to contact manufacturer and take it back to them. They have an RV lot there where you can stay in your coach at night and they take it in the morning back into the factory to work on. Most dealers are not equipped to deal with the way these coaches are coming out of the factory. I think in the long run you will save time and aggravation by going back to the source.
  11. Would like to receive a recommendation if it is OK to use exhaust brake when towing when you are using Easy Brake as a supplemental braking system. My fear is the Easy Brake will sense the exhaust brake activation and activate the brakes on the towed vehicle. Then the towed vehicle will try to slow my coach down thereby wearing out the brakes on the towed vehicle. Any suggestions or experience on what is the proper procedure here. Thanks in advance
  12. Jleamont, thanks for your reply, I am near Linglestown, I have tried it both with the generator running and plugged into 50amp as well as plugged into 15amp at home. When plugged into 50amp I fell like I am plugged onto 15amp at home as I get the same issues. Dryer on Induction Cooktop shuts off, dryer off, after about a 30 second delay induction cooktop comes back on. With generator running there is no power to cooktop or dryer and Microwave/Convection oven runs but at what seems like reduced power. I did buy it from Camping World Harrisburg and that is where it is being serviced. With the initial problems with the Aqua Heat system they had Cory, their best tech, on it for a total of 49 hours before he was able to get help from Aqua Heat and Thor to fix the problem. He got that help after I sent an email to Marcus Lemonis complaining about the lack of help Corey was getting. He got all the help he needed then. This was not CW issue but Aqua Heat and Thor who were not responding. I asked that Corey work on my coach again this time and I am praying they get in done in the time I have allotted them. Here's hoping
  13. Just wanted to post another update on my brand new 2016 Tuscany. Well have had the coach for a couple of weeks and spent that time at our favorite Thousand Trails Campground in Hershey Pa. Obviously when you buy new you have to deal with all the items that the manufacturer and dealer missed when they sell it to you. After months of waiting for paint to be right and the Aqua Heat System to function properly we were excited to finally spend some time on our new home. My wife and l love the coach but we have found several items that need to be repaired. We have a business trip planned this week so I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to give Camping World my new home for a week to fix all the items we found. I had a long list of minor items and the only 2 which I consider to be major are: 1.)One slide seems to be dragging under the residential refrigerator scratching the tile floor, I am sure a minor adjustment should take care of that issue 2.) This one I am concerned about and would like any feedback anyone can offer. Even when hooked up to 50 amp if I have the dryer on, my induction cooktop will not work. In addition if I have nothing on and use the microwave/convention oven it starts at what sounds like full power and then immediately drops to what sounds like less power. It cooks OK but it is acting like you would expect it to if you plug your coach into your house instead of a 50amp outlet. I am afraid the manufacturer has the stove top, microwave/convection over, refrigerator, Washer and Dryer all on the same line or circuit. In addition when I start the generator the dryer and the stovetop do not work. At first I thought this was a safety issue not wanting you to boil a pot a water when you are on the road. BUT what happens if I am dry camping, I cant use the stove?? Would appreciate any feedback on item number 2 as it is my biggest concern. I am hoping by giving Camping World the entire week to fix all these nagging items I will be able to return and pick my coach up complete. Thoughts?? Comments??
  14. I am in the process of dealing with a lot of what the rest of you are saying. I signed the papers for a 2016 Tuscany on January 2, had loan approval shortly thereafter. The dealership damaged one of the compartment doors that had to be replaced. It took a month to get the new door and the dealership had a terrible time matching the paint. All combined with the items we found wrong with the coach, we did not take delivery until March 25, had it a week and back to the shop it went. Aqua Heat was not working and dealership could not figure it out. Tried to call Thor and Aqua Heat and did not receive any help. Earlier this week I finally had enough and sent a letter to Thor and Marcus Lemonis of Camping World. All of a sudden I got their attention and they have been falling over each other in an attempt to help the mechanic working on my coach figure out the issues. Here is what I experienced on a brand new 2016 Thor Tuscany. Jacks were leaking hydraulic fluid, 30 foot line had to be replaced Rear Toilet did not work, bad fuse Major leak in water closet, pump not connect to hoses Ice Maker lines not connected Dock light bulb burned out Slide scratching the floor Aqua Heat not working Drivers Mirror attached at wrong angle even when I adjust it to the highest level it is not enough to set right Circuit board on 3rd air conditioner not working, part of the issue with Aqua Heat When manufactured Thor routed the Aqua Heat Hoses on the slide so when they heat up and the slide is moved they fold on themselves and kink Only received one set of keys, cannot find the other I am supposed to get my coach back today, April 8 so I can begin to use it. I cannot believe Quality Control at Thor, if there is one, let this coach go with so much wrong with it. Love the coach which is why I bought it, just waiting a long time to enjoy.
  15. I am planning on purchasing a 2016 Tuscany by Thor that has an Aqua Heating system.I am unfamiliar with this system and have a couple of questions: 1.) Can it run on 50-amp electric service regardless of outside temperature? 2.) If I run it in diesel mode, how much fuel does it use per hour? 3.) My new coach also has 3 air conditioners with heat pumps. To what temperature are they effective? 4.) Will I have on-demand hot water regardless of which system I use? Appreciate any information anyone can offer. Thanks 2006 Tuscany soon to be a 2016 Tuscany 2014 Jeep Wrangler
  16. I am planning on living in my motorhome this year and have made reservations for the winter at a local RV Park. They recommend I attached an Extend A Stay to my propane tag which would allow me to add an external propane tank that they would make sure stays full during the winter months. This will make it so I do not have to move my coach when propane is needed. Currently I have a 2006 Tuscany which has my propane tank mounted to the frame underneath. The fill cap and bleeder are the only things that stick out to the side of the coach. I turn the propane on and off with an electric switch inside the coach Has anyone ever heard of this system and can the extend a stay be attached to my propane system. Someone told me that of you attach the external tank to the filler cap on my tank that the pressures would equalize and I will be drawing from my tank which would be replenished from the external tank. Also it is my understanding that if I run my furnace it will heat my storage compartments and/or my holding tanks. I am already planning on acquiring a heated water hose and using heat tape for the portion of the pipe that sticks out of the ground on the water supply This is the first winter we will spend in our motorhome in Pa so any other suggestions would certainly be appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help and suggestions.
  17. My four coach batteries are 9 years old. I keep filling them with distilled water but have to admit sometimes I wait too long to check them and the plates are showing. They will still power the refrigerator and lights in my coach for about 24-36 hours before they are depleted. I plan on replacing these batteries some time next year when I enter the next stage of my life and start full timing. At the present time I am always hooked up to power at a campground. My question is by delaying the replacement of these old batteries am I risking any damage to any system in my coach? My coach is a Diesel Pusher with an invertor/converter. Appreciate any information
  18. Thanks for all of your suggestions. I used almost an entire bottle of Dawn and it did work and everything seems to be draining correctly now. I did check the vent pipe and it was clear so I knew it had to be a buildup that was causing the problem. Going forward I will be using Dawn on a regular basis just to avoid a reoccurrence. Thanks for all you help Lou
  19. I have a 2014 Jeep Wrangler which I just had the base plates added and my Jeep was about 6 inches higher that my motorhome so I purchased a 6 inch riser to get them level. My Jeep is a standard jeep with 255/75/17.5 tires on it. I thought about trying it without getting the riser but it measured well about the 3 inch safety margin. So now I am level and good to go. The problem I am having is I had installed the setup for Even Brake which the instructions said I needed a brake relay which we installed and a lighting kit which we installed. When I test the Even Brake it works fine but then it tells me it cannot find the Brake Relay so it is not working. Going to try and install a wire from the motorhome brakes to see if it finds the relay them. Roadmaster does not have any idea why it is not working and tells me the wire is not necessary but don't know what else to do as I feel I really need the supplemental braking system.
  20. When in a campground for several weeks I usually leave the gray tank drain valve open. Recently I noticed that my tank does not seem to be draining. I stuck a hose up past the valve so I know it is at least partially open and we have always been very careful about food particles we allow to go into the tank. We do have a new washer/dryer which we have been using a lot. I tried closing the valve and letting the water accumulate to see if additional water would flush out but when my gauge showed 2/3 full I pulled the valve and very little came out in a slow trickle. Again I tried putting a garden hose up the pipe and turned on water to see if it could dislodge anything because obviously something is clogging the drain, although not completely. Is there any type of additive I could put down the drain to help this situation or do I need to dismantle the drain to see what I can see. Would a hanger/snake up the pipe help? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  21. I had a 2011 Ford Fusion and only towed it to campground and back, 25 miles each way. Bought the car because the manual says it can be towed 4 wheels down and am planning on full timing when I retire. After a couple of hundred miles towing it, I noticed the transmission starting to bang and slip. I went to several FMCA sites and read all the negative comments about blown transmissions on Ford Fusions. Instead of taking a chance I traded it in on a new 2014 Jeep Wrangler which had been proven for years to be dependable and 4 wheels down towable. Wish I got the gas mileage on my Jeep that I did on the Fusion but certainly do not anticipate having any transmission problems either. From everything I read Ford has stood behind the transmissions as long as you were still under warranty but after that you are on your own. Good Luck, I would use a dolly or find a different vehicle.
  22. For the last 3 years I have also used DISH for my TV. I bought it because of the advertising all of you have stated, that I can start and stop service without any fee's or penalties. The first time I did it I was told that there is a $5 per month Pause fee. I politely disagreed and explained that my DISH is in a motorhome and after being transferred several times I found someone who told me the would change me the $5 but credit it each month so not to worry. That worked the first year, the second year I had to go through the process all over again. The third year which was October 2014, same situation but here is it April and I want to turn it back on as soon as my rig is out of the shop and I get a bill for $12. I called and asked them what it was and they told me they only credited the pause fee for 6 months and I was now being charged again. I again went through the explanation but this year was different as I could not convince them of my situation. I read the advertisement in Camping World Catalog and asked why we were having this discussion. They told me under that program they overcharge RV'ers and then credit them back. I politely told the young lady that I did not believe her because I was sure someone would have filed a law suit against them for false advertising. I asked to speak to a supervisor who knew about the RV program. I did not get anywhere with her either and as a matter of fact she told me there was nothing she could do for me and was going to close my account. Not sure what I am going to do now, any suggestions
  23. OK so I tried your suggestions and when I started the generator everything worked so I was able to winterize my washer/ dryer. I was so excited that everything worked I forgot to try and reset the GFI plug or try the inverter to see if EMS gave me anything more than 'Searching' So with everything working now I have to believe it has something to do with my shore power cord as it has been a little difficult connecting as well as disconnecting lately. I will have to take it to my local repair shop but at least I have an idea what the problem and I thank everyone for your suggestions.
  24. Brett, thanks for your suggestion. I am not very well versed on working with electricity but will certainly try what you suggest. After I start the generator and assuming it is something with my shore cord, which it could be as I have had some issues trying to plug and unplug into the coach recently, I would have to try and reset the GFI with generator running before anything would switch over ...correct?? Thanks for your help
