Vickstr, you did not complete the last step and that is turn the key to the off position, leaving the transmission in neutral. I have flat towed my 2013 F-150 over 2K miles with no problems. I have even left the truck in the towing configuration over night in a campground. If you watch the dash the "in towing mode" goes off. By far the easiest 4 down towing I have ever done. David
