  1. We currently have 275/70R22.5 tires on our 36’  Kountry Star motor home that have "reached the age" of replacement recommendation. So, we are shopping for new tires that will last as long and still look as good as these Hankooks currently do. We would appreciate any comments on brands of tires you are pleased with? Also whether or not you felt the FMCA discount was helpful enough price wise to use it?

  2. We just purchased this truck, having traded in a 2010 Chevy Colorado that we flat towed similarly...
The most concerning item we have are the directions for setting up for flat towing. If you look at page 298 of the owners manual, the last instruction in number 9 is to  “keep the ignition key in the towed vehicle in ACC/ACCESSORY to prevent the steering column from locking” which makes sense. ...Makes me wonder if this will really happen since you have already disconnected the battery?…
Within the directions to dinghy tow, on page 298, number 4 refers you to page 194 where, when you get to page 196/197 it guides you through the transfer case directions - shifting into neutral - number 8 says to "turn the engine off and the ignition to ACC/ACCESSORY”. Number 9 says to “place the transmission shift lever in Park. See Recreational Vehicle Towing on page 296”. But number 10 says “turn the ignition off”.

I have tried calling several service depts & tried to contact someone at GMC too - no-one seems to KNOW which is correct...
OUR QUESTION is - which is correct at the end of the directions to tow the pickup behind our motor home. Turn the ignition off on page 197 or keep the ignition key in and turn it on ACC/ACCESSORY on page 298?

    Thank you!

  3. Thanks for your replies...we will be taking the motor home back for service after the first of the year. We now know to have them look at the control arm bushings and possibly loose control arm bolts, tie rods, loose alignment eccentrics (whatever that is). We have a name of someone we can have our service center call at Spartan so we are hopeful that we will resolve this problem soon.

  4. We have a 2008 Newmar Kountry Star diesel pusher that we have had for about 3 years.

From the beginning of our ownership, we noticed an excessive annoying squeak in the front end - especially while on wavy or uneven up and down roads - (probably passenger side) that we have tried to have repaired.

They have lubed the front end (not sure exactly which areas) and it has helped for a bit. We have had the ride height checked, replaced the shocks, and had the generator checked to see if it was not secure. And still we have the noise.

We have talked to both Newmar and Spartan to ask for help in resolving our issue (we do believe there is something wrong as we have owned many motor homes and recognize this as a problem). The only thing we know left to check are the control arm bushings or the tie rods.

Any other ideas? Has anyone else had this experience with the Spartan chassis?

We would appreciate your help and advice.
