If you can get your coach weighed by wheel position, like RVSEF does with their portable scales, it'll be best. Few coaches are evenly balanced, so it's not a good idea to assume that your wheel position weights are half your axle weight; some will differ by 1000# or more. The safest thing to do until that time is to inflate tires to the max spec... but ride will be harsh. An alternative to the moveable wheel-position scales, is a weigh station which will let you "straddle" the scale so you can get a weight one wheel position at a time. Not all weigh station operators will want to do that; with some, it's impossible because of the way the scale is positioned.

We put a clear plastic film (like 3M or Diamond-shield) on our Enclave when we bought it. Don't remember the name of the company; it's smoother than the 3M we have on the coach. .. Rick

Add a voltage drop of about another 0.1 volts through the #14 wire (# 12 may be a bit better). With any charge-wire setup your battery may not stay fully up-to-charge, nonetheless a charge wire should keep the car battery up enough so you can start it at the end of your trip. I regularly run the engine a few minutes every night as a matter of habit on long trips. I believe that action will help keep the battery up as well as circulate fluids. PS: After reading your post, I looked up Schottkey diodes and found that they have less than half the forward voltage drop of silicon diodes. I'm going to look into getting for my own set up. .. RP

We usually take I-10 and/or I-20 both ways across country. I-40 may be a bit far north this time of year. At the I-10/I-20 split in west TX you have a choice... either the '10 through Houiston or the '20 through Dallas Ft. Worth... either way expect a bit of traffic. However there are lots of Walmarts and FLJ's along the way. By the way the'10 in LA is better than it used to be. One suggestion I can add to the others is to take the Natchez Trace North. This is the only National Scenic Highway which I'd recommend for a Motorhome. There are many rest areas, but most can fit your coach. You can pick it up in Jackson MS off the '20, or head north off the '10 to Natchez MS via a couple of different routes... Natchez is a pretty city and there's a nice CG in Vidalia, LA right across the river. You can take the Trace up to Nashville, TN and then the '40 east to the '81.
