  1. Monaco coaches are bad about that, they put a low air alarm on the top of front air tank.

Its a little hockey puck looking deal and road scum collects on top where the two wires are connected when it gets wet the road scum makes contact of the two wires causing the alarm, wash the scum off and I think the alarm will stop in wet weather.

  2. Had a good friend that had, I think about the same system you have on a 01 Monaco Knight that has had the same problem that you have and couple yrs ago he told me he had finally solved his problem what he said is the old piston material would adsorb moisture when it is inactive for long periods and the first time you brake hard it will stick holding the brake pads to the brake rotors. He said that the company that made his system ( I think Bosh??) came out with a replacement piston and he rebuilt all of his brakes after that never heard of another problem. He had been fighting this problem since 01 even went so far as to install a home built temp sensor close to the brakes so he could bleed them if it got stuck, I think everyone is right about replacing the fluid on a regular basis until you see if new material pistons are available.

  3. For reasons unknown to me Winnibago says you can not use a equalizer hitch of the Freightliner (Journey 34') chassis. I would like to use a equalizer to reduce tongue weight of trailer I want to pull. Anyone have any experience with Equilizer hitches on Journey or similar Freightliner chasis with air ride ect.

Gosh I can't see why you could not use a equalizer unless it would overload the front axle of the coach and that may be the reason.

I would call Freightliner and ask. I have used a equalizer hitch many yrs ago when I pulled a camper trailer but not on a coach.

  4. Supposedly my compressor also goes up to 120, then idle until 100 when it kicks back in....Taking rears up to 102 haven't been a problem....

I have tried twice to take my fronts up to 118 cold but have not been able to.....

I release the air until the compressor starts up and when it gets to approx 110, I put the air hose on the tire... I've held it on until the compressor kicks off at 118-120 but then when I check the PSI of the tires, they were only at 115... and I'm pretty sure of the gauges being correct or within +/- 1# ......

I thought that if the compressor went up to what it's gauges say was 118-120, the tires should have gone up to that point also ??

You have a air governor on your coach and some set it for up to 130 lb, on our Monaco Dynasty it is located on the rear passenger frame it has a plastic cap that looks like a Mexican hat, CCW to raise the pressure.

  5. I towed a 03 Element for a few yrs but back then Honda had everything OK to tow, I am not sure you can tow a 2014 Element that would be up to you, I do know a few members on another forum are towing some of the Hondas that were not approved without a problem. Get a older Element and dont think there would be a problem but be aware that the Element will have road noise but very comfortable and handy as can be especially hauling large items.

  6. Carl,

A lot of the vehicle forums have factory tec's on them and they have helped with problems like this. I am on a Ford F150 and a Chevy Spark forum that is monitored by factory tecs that offer help. Try the Honda forums and see if any are monitored by factory tecs.

A lot of times they can get things done that our phone calls can't because we are posting for everyone to see. Good luck and I sure hope you get some help. Sounds like you picked the wrong dealership to deal with.

  7. I just purchased a 2002 coach with an air leveling system by HWH, it does not level automaticially, the rear drops and the front raises, when I manually lower the front only the left side drops then I have to manually lower the right side, I want to replace this with hydraulic eventually but for now if it worked properly it would be great, any ideas?

Are you pushing the top right button two times in a row? I think your air leveling is also the 610 series. If you get the air leveling working right I don't think you would ever want jacks again. Here is a good explanation of the system.

  8. I have installed at least 15 +- Roadmaster Brackets in the last 20 yrs including a few for friends but the last two I installed it sure is taking longer the older I get the harder it is get up and back down about 50 times for the install, takes a couple days for me to get over it. I need to hire someone to hand me tools and it would be a easy job. Its 4 Roadmaster Brackets in my shop now off of some of my toads and one that was never installed, a 2011 Flex, a 2010 Equinox, a 2011 Edge, and a little Ford Festiva bracket

  9. What steering gear box do you have, the Shepard is non adjustable for slack has to be removed and rebuilt. the TRW is adjustable it has a adjustment screw to take out excess slack. The best I remember the Shepard M100 that was used on a lot of the pushers should have from 1 inch to 1 1/2 inch play.

  10. Brett gave you good info but if you pre-fill and that is what I do be sure to plug the center hole, I use a nipple. It is generally not necessary to pre-fill the secondary filter as you can cycle the key on and off and let the lift pump fill the filter but again I always pre-fill both filters. You have to be careful when X filter # as the as the micron # does not follow the X ref # , what I mean is if you X a Wix 5 micron to a Donaldson # it will not necessarily be a 5 micron filter.

Here is a link to Wix

    http://www.wixfilters.com/Lookup/filterlookup.aspx

Here is a link to Donaldson

    https://dynamic.donaldson.com/WebStore/search/cross_reference.html

Now I use a Wix 33965 on my secondary (because Monaco installed it backwards ) go to Wix enter that # and click on the 33965 scroll down and you will see the micron # then do the same with Donaldson and you will see the Wix will be 2 micron and the Donaldson will be 10 micron.

  11. No, here is the filter order:

    Fuel tank

Primary filter/water separator (10-30 micron filter element)

    Lift pump/fuel pump

Secondary filter (2-5 micron filter element)

    Injector pump/engine

And, when changing filters, both should be changed. Which one will be clogged depends on the particle size of the contaminants. With algae, it can be both as the can clump into slimy black mess that clogs the primary as well as individual bodies that clog the secondary.

You have said that the fuel was "treated properly". What algaecide did you use-- and in maintenance or kill dose?

Yes Brett but on most Monaco coaches they installed the filters in the reverse order from what you posted so you have to be careful and trace out your fuel lines, I am going to change my setup one of these days after I use up all my spare filters.

  12. Well I have used Pressure pro since right after they marketed the sensors in 04 and have now used TST the last 3 yrs and have never had a problem with the rubber valve stems on a Honda, chevy Equinox , Ford Edge or a F150 and will be using them on the Chevy Spark. You will know if there is a problem with the stems leaking if the sensor is installed.

  13. Bought in Nov 2010. Have had 2 transmissions replaced already, covered by manufacture warranty. Bought extended warranty, in November 2013, because we knew it would happen again and it did..

Ford says it is our fault, we're towing it wrong, and should have purchased a pump. The first we've heard of a pump for this car. This car has 31000 miles.

Friendly Ford in Las Vegas, Nevada, will not honor the extended warranty.

Has anyone had a similar problem?

Ask the Ford Trans mechanic if the trans pump will pump at idle and if he thinks its enough to keep it lubed, I have towed rear wheel drive vehicles to the auto auction for yrs with no problem with the trans in N and idling the engine also we had a member on another forum from Canada that came from Canada to Florida with a Lincoln TC on a tow bar by idling the engine cant see why it wont work with the Fusion, check into it might be a simple way out of a mess.

  14. Found this on another forum this might help in a emergency.

    Walt

Here is an alleged 'work around' that I got off the Jeep forum. It may be worth a try before you invest a lot of money. It's worked for some on that forum and has not worked for others. I have not tried this.

    1. Unplug your battery.

    2. Unplug the fdcm (someone also just removed the FDCM fuse)

    3. plug battery back in

    4. Drive around down your street and back

    5. unplug battery

    6. plug fdcm back in (or replace fuse)

    7. plug battery back in

    8. Test it out!

The FDCM is under the rear seat, drivers side. Two 18mm bolts hold the seat down.

  15. Don

Will the battery in the new Ford F150 4X4 go dead while in the new towing mode. The towing mode feature is new for 2014, I guess. To put into towing mode you must turn on the ignition and put on brake, put trans in natural and then turn the 4X4 switch back and forth between 4x2 to 4x4L 5 times in six seconds and the dash goes blank and it says "in towing mode" It doesn't say anything about the condition about the battery when you arrive at your destination.

I called Ford and got a busy signal most of the day. I called the dealer and all service said was that if the battery goes below a certain voltage it will go into "battery safe mode" so it will start when called for ?

There must be somebody out there with the same question.

    Thanks.

Don if you use a toad brake that presses the brake pedel you will need a charge line from the coach chassis battery to the toad battery, how to install one has been posted many times .

The ign switch is not turned off all the way as long as the trans is in N, there is a section in my owners manual that warns aginst letting the battery run down acording to Ford the trans could shift causing damage, ii did run a charge line to my truck but i also use a Roadmaster Brakemaster that activates the truck brake lights.

    Don Fleming Eagle, Id.

  16. There are or were problems with some of the Monaco Coaches I will past a list of the Monaco coaches that had a Trailing Arm issue, and a link that explains it. This is a serious chassis issue and he needs to be aware of it. Many of these coaches have had the new upgraded trailing arm installed.

    Monaco Knight 2002 - 2004
    Monaco Cayman 2002 - 2009
    Holiday Rambler Ambassador 2002 - 2004

  17. Mark the lights on the dolly is all you need I towed with one for a few yrs and never had a problem, as for brakes and breakaway brakes Acme makes one with both and I would imagine so do other mfg. There is one for sale on IRV2 in the classified folder in FL, here is the link for Acme.
