  1. I did buy it a Best Buy because I could find only 2 models that were 24 inches wide with the freezer on the bottom.  The other one was GE but was 2 1/2 times more expensive.  Been testing the Insignia on the garage floor and it seems to run ok.  Can't hear the compressor running unless you put your ear to the cabinet.  Cools down the freezer from 86 degrees to -7  in less than 3 hours and draws 1.1 amps, 1.8 for defrost.

Kenmore is Sears house brand and their products are made by various manufacturers with the lowest bid.

I thought I had that all in my profile but it never shows up. We unhooked purple wire and reconnected battery and it's no longer hot. What is the purple wire for?

If the purple wire has 12 volt that is what is activating the solenoid.  That should come on with the ignition on or jump start switch.  With it disconnected start the engine and see if the engine battery is about the same voltage as the house battery. If more that about 1 volt difference hook up the purple wire and see if they are closer to the same voltage. If so then there is a problem with the purple (control) wire.  Thats my guess without actually being able to trouble shoot it.

Bruce/ You lost another refrigerator. ? I remember that the last one was in a different coach, but after a call with a recording to back you up, Lowes replaced it.

I am still trying to justify moving everything under our Dometic in order to install a Res fridge. Kinda thinking that even a Res fridge should be turned off if you are parked way off of level, but I am not sure about that.

I only lost one, the Heier which had no warranty.  That was in my last coach, I put the Norcold back in and sold it.  My new to me coach is the one I'm installing a new 10.2 cu ft Insignia from Best Buy.  Its ok if installed in an rv and I got the extended 5 year warranty. I'm taking out a Dometic 3722? which is 32 inches wide and the new one is 24 inches wide leaving me 8 inches to put in a much needed pantry.  The new refrigerator has a bottom freezer and has more interior space than the old one.

  4. Last year we bought a 98 Discovery, the same model as yours.  Ours had 100k miles on it.  Did a number of repairs and upgrades and took our first trip to the paint shop to have it painted, 4500 miles round trip.  Took a summer trip about 4 months and 6000 miles, had a few problems but that is to be expected.

A FOLLOW-UP TO OUR INSTALL - FOR ANYONE WHO READS THIS THREAD AND MAY SEE THE SAME ISSUE.

As mentioned in prior posts, we replaced our original CRT Style with a larger LED Panel.  This TV works on 12vdc and I happened to have a connector in the TV Space with the correct size pin head on it.  So when I first mounted the TV I connected this and it worked on the house batteries. But ... over time I noticed that we'd get noise and the picture would get bad. Finally I took the original cord that came with this TV, regular 120vac plug, with an inline transformer and coming out of that 12vdc to plug into the TV.  After switching to this setup and of course, on inverter when not plugged into shore power or on the generator, my noise/distortion issue went away. So I gather when on the straight 12vdc from the coach, the TV was susceptible to variations in voltage causing the noise/distortion. So I just thought I'd pass this info along.

Years ago I had a similar problem with interference on 12 volt.  I ran a dedicated 12 volt wire from the battery and it solved the problem.

Screw them to the roof. There should be plywood under  the rubber covering. Be sure to seal screws and brackets with caulking. I use Dicor selfing caulking.

Thats the way I secured mine, I have 8 panels, 100 watts each.  4 brackets per panel and 2 screws per bracket to the roof with Dicor sealer.  Been up to 78 mph and the panels are still with me.

WHOA EVERYONE!  Maybe I didn't make myself clear.   I currently have a ONAN  6.5K HGJAB-902A Marquiis III, (600hrs) high pressure, LPG,  and I would like to convert it to unleaded gasoline, not propane. Is this possible has anyone else done it?  If so what is involved cost wise parts and labor? What parts have to be replaced?  What effect will in have on the life of generator?

    Read my post above.

  8. We got rid of our 32 ft diesel pusher that we used for 17 years and 150k miles.  We would be in it for 5-6 months at a time.  Not much extra room.  We now have a 36 ft with slide and it is so much more comfortable.  I would go with a Cummins engine.  We have the ISB 275 and just got back from a 6k mile trip and averaged a tick over 10 mpg, 28k pounds with 1/2 Silverado.

  9. It sound like one of the springs is not working.  With the slide all the way in but out about an inch undo the end cap arm and hang on tight because there should be spring tension.  Let it unwind slowly and count the turns.  Should be around 8-10 I think.  You may find no tension on one end, if so remove the screws and pull the spring assy out and see whats broken.
