Confused about ''Type,'' ''Class'' of Motorhomes

No disrespect meant at all, just wondering! -
I am in need of some clarification please. One the FMCA sites all motorhomes are referred to as "type" A, B or C. On just about every other site and on manufacturer brochures, the term is generally "Class" A, B or C. Is there a reason for this?
