  1. Interstate 10 is the direct route. Now if you want to visit Oregon on the way that involves some planning.
  2. I've always used RV anitifreeze. This year I blew out the plumbing with air, then did it again. The I pumped antifreeze through the plumbing lines, which pushed out about a quart of clear water before antifreeze began showing. That was proof enough for me that even though Winnebago says to use compressed air, it does not remove all water.
  3. I can remember reading of a similar problem, and the cause was a charcoal canister attached to the frame. That's all I remember. Perhaps a GM truck repair shop will know.
  4. The vehicle specific owners manual is the final authority. Locate the section listed "recreational towing" and read closely. I have seen online recreational towing guides with errors. I agree with wildbill, I would search for a different towed vehicle. I'd hate to be limited to 55 MPH on interstates, then if you visit Texas and a couple other states with 80 MPH speed limits it could get downright dangerous in heavy traffic.
  5. The travel Assist program is worth the price of joining FMCA and is included. Visit the main page and read up on the benefits. Keep in mind this is a contract and must be read and comply with the fine print to be valid, just as any other contract you sign.
  6. bjbear, call the ERS phone number, ask for a supervisor. When one gets on the line request they explain the reimbursement procedure and mail you the proper forms to file a claim. The initial operators are only allowed to do what is on the computer screen in front of them, which is to call down the list of approved providers and find the lowest cost provider, then dispatch that provider. As you experienced the providers have the option to accept or refuse the job.. Be polite, they have a job to perform too. That happened to me with Good Sam ERS in 2020. I filed a claim as instructed and a month later received a check for the full amount I spent.
  7. I think Lippert leveling system jacks can be operated individually. The HWH 4-jack system operates in pairs only to prevent frame twisting, the 3-jack system cannot be manipulated to twist the frame, as the front deploys first and acts as a pivot point for the rear jacks. It matters not if the leveling system is operated in auto-level or manual mode. Of course, air-leveling is impossible to twist the frame. I have no knowledge of the Kwikee Level Best, Power Gear or Bigfoot leveling systems.
  8. Check out this wireless camera system with record feature: https://technorv.com/collections/rearview-observation-camera-accessories/products/vision-works-hd-wireless-rearview-observation-kit-with-quadview-recordable-5-monitor-and-camera-kit It accepts up to 4 cameras.
  9. For HWH brand leveling system, NO you cannot damage the MH using auto-level. HWH systems are designed so 2 jacks act together, this prevents twisting the frame. reference: https://www.hwhcorp.com/ml20673aafaq.html
  10. Splendide stacking kit and installation instructions. http://splendide.com/portfolio-details_SK03.html Washer securing kit: Splendide download site: http://www.splendide.com/inner-page_downloads.html
  11. We had a Splendide washer/dryer combo in our 5er, it was not fastened down to anything, and it never moved during the 5 years we owned the 5er. Splendide.com sells a kit to secure the separate dryer on top of the washer, and I think those brackets also fasten to the walls_not sure. The installation instructions are found on the website. P.S. leave all the room in the pan toward the front of the washer, otherwise you can't remove the lower kick panel to clean out the trap.
  12. There will be a sticker on each major part if the system is HWH brand. The number will begin with APxxxxxx. The AP number on the motor/pump/reservoir assy. identifies your system. If the stickers are missing, use this to ID your HWH brand leveling system model #. When you provide that basic information, we can help instead of guess.
  13. The towables market is mostly younger people, who choose to use Facebook and Twitter rather than conventional discussion forums. When we were younger this discussion forum was the only way to stay in contact with other members. The FMCA diesel club website is a wealth of information for diesel MH's, but when was the last time you visited? It's been at least 2 years for me, but then we are only a small fraction of the RV market. Escapees.com is in the same boat with us, their Xcapsers Facebook page is booming with the younger members but the discussion forums is fading at the same rate as the older members(yes we are dying off). I'm 80 and suspect my RVing days are almost gone, Instead of relaxing, now I find driving my MH a chore..
  14. I will do so my friend. Medical Science has advanced tremendously in the last several years, I wish her the best possible outcome.
  15. jburnside; my blower-type fan is controlled by a button thermostat clamped to the cooling unit piping; it is an addition to the Fridge Defend/ ARP unit I installed to protect the cooling unit from overheating. I suggest you read up on it's function and safety features.
  16. What did I think of it? Well, it made me realize FMCA officers made the right decision to allow towables into the organization if it is to survive; but I was against it at that time. Mr. Davies said diesel pusher MH's today comprise 1% of the RV market, and overall, towables comprise 75% of total RV sales. It's easy to see where the RV industry is headed.
  17. Winnebago products has one for each year and model MH, don't know about towables.
  18. FWIW, the owners manual for my MH (see sig) says to use compressed air to winterize. I prefer the ease of mind to winterize with RV antifreeze, that way I know for sure nothing is broken or damaged by expanding ice. I do not trust 50# of compressed air to blow out all water from faucets and plumbing lines. I winterized today, drained the water plumbing yesterday_low point drains, removed water heater drain plug, drained fresh tank and left drain valve open. Then I drove it 40 miles in an attempt to drain all water from the plumbing. Well, today I winterized with RV antifreeze and caught what water was pushed out by RV antifreeze in a gallon jug. The jug was nearly full of clear water when I was finished winterizing. Where did that water come from after draining the plumbing system and driving 40 miles with drains left open? Draw your own conclusions from that.
  19. wildbill, I'm parked beside Mr. Geer one of the national directors. I gave him the video link by Brett Daves, and told him where you posted the link.
  20. I just finished watching the video. If I owned stock in a MH brand I might be considering an alternative investment. That made me think perhaps FMCA did make a good decision to include towables after all.
  21. She just chuckled and smiled_ ya'know.
  22. Wayne we have/had that rule. When DW buys something, she says what are you getting rid of? One time I replied "my credit card", you can guess how that flew.
  23. No need to replace the entire pump, just replace the head/valves section. It's usually a bit of dirt stuck in the valve body.
  24. IMO, return the Rand McNally RV GPS. RM says lifetime maps; their website says they consider 3 years the lifetime of their products and will not support your GPS after 3 years. Rand McNally is now out of the RV GPS business and instead are focused on commercial trucking and the boating industry. Instead of spending a lot of money, I decided to buy a Chinese truckers GPS from Amazon for $79.(Rand McNally products are all mace in China too, you pay for the name) I've had it for 2 years now and it had been right every time I programmed in a trip. The OHREX map updates are $20 each and come on an SD card.
  25. The MH RVIA sticker can be removed with a heat gun and gentle pulling. The older metal emblems are egg-shaped, attached with screws, and will not coincide with a newer MH.
