Get in that baby and run away

I'd love to_but after sitting for 2 years the inside is terribly dirty. The  final repair item, the dash is broken where the front cap was jammed up into it, is yet to be repaired. I'm amazed it didn't break the windshield, it just caused a small leak at the top. Then we can bring it home for spring cleaning. I"ve yet to change the oil N filter, it's now been 3 years since the last service. we stayed home during the pandemic, then wintered in Ft. Myers Beach 21/22 winter, and on the way home the damage occurred.  So that motor oil has about 4,000 miles on it..

I'm hoping by Labor Day we can have everything ready to go for a "walkabout", as it's called in AU.

  2. Finally!!! Body work completed, new awning installed but wrong color. I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. Progressive denied replacing the damaged inverter, saying they would not replace an obsolete unit, for which there are no repair parts, and. the RV repair shop wanted too much money to replace the inverter with a new inverter.

I really can't blame Progressive, the repair shop quoted $4,000 to replace the Xantrex RS2,000W inverter. Hodges Marine is selling the current direct replacement Xantrex 2012 model for $1,537.

  3. FWIW, when I had slide room problems with a new 5er we bought. The selling dealer flat told me, our technicians so seldom work on slide room mechanisms they cannot retain their skills of working on them. I recommend you take your RV to the factory service dept. for proper adjustment and repairs. I did, and everything was repaired properly; I never had another problem after the factory work was completed.

Yes it was a long drive, but when we arrived they had RV parking W/elec. outside the repair facility. After their work day was done, they moved my RV to one of those sites. Next morning they came got it. Two days later I was on my way home.

I'm thinking of switching because AT&T is only 4g LTE. The T-Mobile plan is 4g LTE and 5g.

You do realize 5G is only actually available in cities and population centers, due to antenna requirements.

    Quote:
"Low-band 5G is a blanket layer for nationwide coverage, and is slightly faster than 4G LTE. Mid-band 5G tends to be available in major metro areas, and its data speeds can be up to 6x faster than 4G. High-band 5G can be 10x faster than 4G LTE. To receive this service, a consumer needs to be very close to a tower. We believe the best 5G map is one that shows where users are actually receiving 100Mbps consistently."

  5. We drove to the RV body shop today and inspected the front cap work. It looks really nice, but they forgot the  Ultimate Freedom decal on the generator door.

Jumping back to their personnel problems. Today it was explained to me. Camping World had came in and replaced the old RV techs with their own techs and staff. CW even took the liberty of changing the old RV sales and service name to CW on all the internet search engines. This was before the deal was final, and the family that owns the business cancelled the deal and threw CW out. Then the family had to find and hire their old techs back, and when  the CW service writers left they didn't leave any files on the computers.

The woman in charge of the service dept. said she had about 30 RV's of all types but not even names of the owners, let alone why they were there. She had to run the license plates through DMV  to get owner names and addresses.

For me that locked the door. Now the only time I'll stop at a CW(super) store is for free over-night parking w/ elec.

  6. Progressive is not slow, I received a letter yesterday saying they have billed my CC for my auto-renewal of my MH policy that is due Apr. 21. Now if they'll just fix my MH; they've already sent me a check for $6,800 and marked my claim closed, but say nothing about the other $7,000, even though I've called 3 different men in the claims process, 1 is the manager, and haven't gotten a decision.

    Finally got our front fixed

Toss some of your luck my direction. I took my MH to a different body shop that met Progressive's estimate, now Progressive is dragging their heels because this body shop requested a $7,000 supplement to finish the repairs. That supplement brings their estimate total up to near what the first body shop estimated.

April 5 will be 2 years without our MH.

The airbags do fully inflate and raises to normal ride height. The leak sounds very faint. I will contact him to get some advice. Thank you!

Sorry for the mix-up. Do not call Paul Maddox, he represents HWH brand leveling systems and slide mechanisms only.

Have you made sure the hydraulic fluid tank is full? I think it takes Dextron III, but check the owners manual to be sure.

  9. FMCA used to have a disclaimer on their Michelin discount  page saying to check the price without going through the Michelin program vs using the program, as some dealers offered a better price so they didn't have to mess with the paperwork.

That disclaimer was removed several years ago for reasons unknown.

  10. Yes I can rebuild it, but it will  take a lot of time the way my hands shake. It is a Zenith brand updraft carburetor, on a 1972 Massy Ferguson 135  farm tractor. The engine is a factory conversion of a 3 cyl Perkins engine from diesel to gasoline.  And NO, it isn't a recreational vehicle, JIC anyone is curious. 🚜

I'll pick a nice warm day, setup a table next to the tractor in my RV garage and rebuild the carb after the rebuilt kit arrives. This must made me remember, I haven't yet tested the distributor for a short to ground. I've already found the wire from the voltage regulator to ignition key worn bare in one spot, stopped there and failed to do a complete search under the dash for more shorts, or even check out the regulator contacts.  Years ago I bought a complete service/rebuild manual for my tractor, should have been consulting it all along.

  11. Exterior body repairs are completed,, they forgot the damage to the dash in the starboard corner and the Xantrex inverter that was ruined by the big jar, that was an additional $7,000 suppliment to the original exterior damage estimate of $6,500. Now the body shop is waiting on Progressive to approve the additional $7K. With any luck I'll get my MH back by April. Then I take it to a different RV repair shop for a new main awning, which only takes one day, and they've had the new awning since Jan. 30..(different claim)

If there is a upside, I've had full use of my RV garage for working on my farm tractor this winter. I've narrowed that down to needing a new carb. @ $500, after spending $150 to replace the ignition system-which was not the problem.

  12. Welcome to the FMCA discussion forums!

AGM batteries are still lead-acid batteries in a different form. Your inverter built-in charger will have an AGM selection which uses the ideal  charging rate for them.

    A Renogy 200A AGM battery is $380, a Renogy 200A LifePo battery is $461.

For the $81 price difference you get true 200A of usable power(AGM batteries should not be depleted below 50% for best battery life) and about twice the cycles of use from the LifePo battery. The downside is, if your MH's charger does not support charging lithium batteries, it should be replaced. Also,   you must install a DC to DC charger to prevent burning up the drive engine's alternator. when driving.
