  1. There are two methods. One is to have a 20amp breaker in the motor home feeding a #12 or #10 wire to the +12 pin on the rear receptacle. Also, a 20 amp breaker in the towed vehicle connected to battery and the +12 pin on the towed. Suggest you use the big 7 pin connectors on the motor home and the towed. Via Amazon you can purchase a 7 pin to 7 pin cable to connect together. That cable has larger conductors than the small round towed connection normally used. We found that the small connection would collect sand and water which would short the +12 pin to the brake or tail lights and would not clear until the water dries out which takes 24-36 hours.

The other method is similarly wired, but a charge controller is added to the circuit. I don’t remember the manufacturer or part number, but if you call Dan’s Service Center in Elkhart, Indiana, they can tell you or supply one to you. Dan’s is recognized as being one of the best installers. He recommends using a charge controller vs using just a wired charge line to add safety to both vehicles.

PS: Most newer auto manufacturers (GM is one) state to not wire into the existing tail and brake lights due to feedback into towed’s system. I used an Led kit from Roadmaster on our 3 Equinox toweds.

  2. Not sure this will work, but I copied it from a Google search.

To login and make administrative settings to your Moxee Hotspot, you must be connected via Wi-Fi to your Moxee Hotspot. At least it is worth a try.
    1. Open your browser and navigate to 192.168.1.1. ...
    2. The default username: admin and the password: 12$XXX where XXX is the last three of the Moxee Hotspot IMEI (found on the label in the battery compartment)

  3. Since you have blocked your location in your profile, I can not tell where to get your inverter repaired. But you call Xantrex and get a Return Material Authorization number RMA. If you are near the state of Washington, I am told there is a location to ship it to or drop off. If near Elkhart, Indiana there is a location there, also. But absolutely no walk in or shipped to without the RMA number.

Does FMCA recommend or have partnerships with any rv windshield glass replacement companies? Could anyone please recommend a good one ? Thank you

Yes, custom glass solutions. Rvglassparts.com. They will give you free  one year of FMCA membership.

  5. You should not have any trouble. Suggest you visit north rim while you are north. Great views through giant windows of the lodge dining room. Not as many people or crowds to deal with, but the south rim has an excellent trading post of Native American Indian art at fair prices, not cheap though.

we camped in 38 ft motor home near page and drove auto to the north rim. North rim campground was full and unless they have been enlarge the sites, sites were smaller than you will need.

  6. There have been documented cases where the RVers forgot to close their vent which allowed CO to enter RV from the tall stacks. If you would like to try an extension to direct the exhaust to the ground and away from RV, go to any muffler shop. They can make an extension to fit your generator exhaust pipe. I had one made in two 6 foot pieces, so I could place in storage bin on generator side. One slipped over the exhaust pipe and the  second slipped over the end of first pipe. Only about 6 inches of the ends are slip fit. Make sure they don’t make the fit too tight or you may not get them apart. I used two bricks to lift the end, so anything on ground would not catch fire.

  7. Your ac should not be drawing in air from the outside, but maybe some do.  The vents can bring in outside air. I have boondocked at 90°. I lower the temp for about an hour before bedtime, then turn off. It does get warmer during the night, but not uncomfortable. May not work for every RV depending on insulation and double pane windows.

  8. If you are a member, the information is in issues of Family RVing. If not, call FMCA and ask for the Convention department. Possibly they can email you a list because the information has been prepared to be printed in the book given to attendees. Suggest you not go on Wednesday the 24th. The displays are only open 1/2 day. Thursday is very crowded. I found that Friday and Saturday are the easiest days to be able to see all.

  9. Wish downsize would work for us. My wife is using a walker full time. Getting in and out of motor home is very hard for  her. Getting hard for me, too. So many trips in and out to load the items for trip was hard on my leg and knees. It is right time for us to sell.

  10. I have checked consignment sites near us. They will not take any motor home older than 10 years.

I have listed with RV WHEELATOR. 5% commission. Their site is linked to more than 100 other sites. They are an FMCA commercial member.

Is this a good decision? Only time will tell.

  11. It looks like you have two 12 volt batteries in parallel, but even if they were 6 volt in series, I would replace both. A old battery will probably cause problems with the new one as time goes on. If it were me, I would use two 6 volt AGM wired in series to get more capacity if your battery compartment will allow additional height.
