  1. I do the same thing, we also have covered storage and our motorhome will sit in storage for 3-4 weeks at a time until the traveling bug hits us. But, when we take off we usually drive long enough to use a couple of tanks of diesel through our Cat C9. When in storage, I disconnect the chassis master battery disconnect switch that disconnects everything 12V. I have AGM house batteries and they discharge very little in 3-4 weeks. All good suggestions from the previous posters. Enjoy your new motorhome...
  2. Really sorry to hear of your problems. When the service writer informed you that they do not accept extended warranties should be a clue that they are overpriced on their repairs and labor. Hind sight is 20/20 but instead of a Cummins dealer I would have requested the chassis service center. It is the chassis maker that installs the accessories like A/C not Cummins. As someone mentioned look at your service contract to make sure it is an exclusionary one and understand what is covered and not covered. I have a 7 year/100,000 service contract and is called a "premium policy" with very few exclusions. I have had several claims and they have covered them all. My rear view camera stopped working a couple of months ago and my service center found the cable was shorted and needed to be replaced. They had to run a new cable down the inside of the rear end cap and inside a new wire loom along the frame and up into the dash. My service manager said it would take 8 hours at $110 per hour labor and he would check with my service contract to see what they would cover. He called me and said that they would only cover 7 hours labor and the cable cost. I was happy it cost me a total $220. I know a lot of people recommend not buying a service contract but, I do not do any repairs on my motorhome. If it is not working I take it to my service center. I want to go RV'ing not spending time repairing items.
  3. All that I know about cover both chassis and house portion. Make sure you understand that they are a service contract and some have many exlusions on what is covered and not covered. Good Sam VIP DOES NOT cover rubber hoses or any seals as part of their many exclusionary items. There has been a lot of discussion in the RV community reporting that Good Sams VIP extended warranty is not paying out and the company is finding more ways to refuse coverage. Search the various RV forums for further information. Read the find print carefully and if you decide a service contract (extended warranty) is right for you purchase one that has a Platimum or Supreme bumper to bumper type coverage with few or zero exlusions. Good Luck
  4. I have used the Weber "Q" grill for about 3 years now and it has worked well and heats up enough to be able to sear steaks. To me that is the most important thing for a grill is high BTU's. I have the folding cart/stand and it collapses so it does not take up much room. I also purchased a separate 5 pound external propane tank and a hose so I do not have to worry about running out using those small cylinders.
