  1. We joined the Tech Connect Plus plan in early June and received the M2000 cellular modem on the 16th (had to have it sent ahead on a 3 week trip). Note this is not the M8000 that was previously used. This one has both 4G and 5G capabilities. I was told that this change is due to the completed merger. The device works very well. Previously we had used our Verizon cell phone as a hot-spot. Direct comparison between the two approaches were positive-- similar upload and download speeds and ping times. For example, in Lansing, MI, the Verizon numbers were (download, upload & ping) 43.4 Mbps, 3.1 Mbps and 60 ms whereas the M2000 T-mobile device numbers were 25.5 Mbps, 2.7 Mbps, 59 ms. The Verizon connection was 4G; the Sprint/T-Mobile connection was 5G. In Rural Georgia where we've had problems with cell service it was Verizon (5.8, 0.391, 44) and M2000 (55.3, 4.1, 48), both on 4G. During this trip we ran test at I-75 rest stops, at campgrounds and a few other locations. Typically, the numbers were similar or better for the M2000 connection. The one exception was a Tennessee State Park surrounded by mountains where the speed was too slow and variable to support streaming. Otherwise, we used it just like our home internet with multiple devices connected and lots of streaming. We've had no problems and are extremely pleased with the service.
