Cost to Flat-Tow ? WOW!
sandyhepburn replied to obiwan_canoli's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
Current pricing for a complete NSA Ready Brute Elite II kit is $2699 directly from NSA: here's the link this gives you everything you need from the back of the RV to the baseplate on the toad, including brakes and lighting. Installation would depend on the toad but it's all capable of DIY, if you have even basic skills. -
I've decided to switch to 4 down towing and purchased a new jeep Cherokee. I'm trying decide if the Ready brute system is good and simple breaking system is the best choice. we are planning to head west this spring so we will be in the mountains with a gas motor-home. does anybody hear using this tow bar and are they happy with it. also, should I use a mobile tech or take it to a motorhome dealer to have it installed.

My husband and I recently bought a used Winnebago Class A and now a 2007 Honda CRV. I was able to find a used Ready Brute/Brake tow bar that has connectors for a Blue Ox base plate. No luck finding a used base plate of any brand and am looking at new ones. Before starting this quest, we knew NOTHING about towing and are still sadly lacking. Any recommendations on the brand of base plate? Once the base plate is purchased, what other equipment will we need prior to doing a search for someone to install it all? THANKS!

I have a winnebago vista 35f and recently purchased a 2019 GMC Acadia AWD 3.6L as a toad vehicle. Any recommendations on hardware for this setup? I'm considering NSA RV Ready Brute Elite II for tow bar and brake system. They offer a "complete kit", including base plate. Does anyone have experience with this setup? I'm a newbie to dinghy towing so any help is appreciated.

Flat Tow Tow Bar Choices
wildebill308 replied to studebrucer's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
Welcome to the forum. I haven't heard anything negative about the Ready Brute Elite. Most of the systems that don't connect to the coach rely on some type of surge activation. Bill -
OK, guys how about the "Ready Brute Elite" anybody using a surge brake?

NSA Brute Force Elite Tow Bar
3014oliver replied to 3014oliver's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
After doing a bit more research, talking to a few people in the RV park and at the service with the ready brake I've decided I'll go that route with the ready brute tow bar. It works out a bit less that route than using a Brake buddy, Patriot or a road master invisibrake. -
Towing A Moded 2013 Rubicon Unlimited
Georgew48 replied to ottfamily's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
I tow a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited behind my Georgetown and use the ready brute elite tow bar with the built in surge brake and use the Mopar wiring harness. Great system and easy to install. Once the brake cable is installed in the jeep you never to mess with it. -
We're getting ready to buy a new car that can be towed 4 wheels down (Ford Edge, Chevy Equinox or Honda CRV). We have a 40' diesel Monaco Diplomat. We've been using a tow dolly so now we have to buy a tow bar & braking system. We've been doing some research & have come across the Ready Brute Elite RV Tow Bar which incorporates both the braking system & tow bar in one. It seems like a great idea but we'd love to know if any one is using it & what are your opinions. Any comments would be appreciated

Hi! I am located in southeast Pennsylvania and I am trying to locate someone that can install a Ready Brute Elite tow bar and a Blue Ox baseplate on my 2012 Ford Focus. I would appreciate it if someone could forward a name of an experienced installer that could handle this task for me. Thank you!

"Tandem" brake system with 98 Subaru Forester
pkendzor replied to dwightginnyputzke's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
It looks like a similar system used by ready brute / ready brake. The Ready Brute system is simple and trouble free. http://www.readybrake.com/ -
Barry & Janet, I appreciate your input on a tow bar selection. It has been over thirty years since I towed with a tow bar and they have come a long way since then. We used tow dollies in the past and currently use a flat 2 axle tilt trailer with electric brakes. Although this gives me the flexibility to haul different vehicles and toys, it is a pain to secure them and store an additional piece on a small site. Ready Brute does offer a 12 volt vac system and check valve to activate the power booster that looks simple to install. It appears the spring arrangment actuator would control the brake pressure to the toad but I am leaning more towards a system like the US Gear UTB. At one time I enjoyed testing out new concepts, but as I grow older I feel more comfortable with a proven system. So unless I receive some positive feedback from an existing customer, looks like proven is better Thank You Again, Paul & Carol

Paul & Carol, We looked at those when we had to set up our G6, but opted for the US Gear Unified Tow Brake (UTB) instead for a few reasons: first, the Ready Brute doesn't let you control the toad's brakes from inside the motorhome like the UTB. Second, the Ready Brute doesn't have a means to activate the power brake booster in the toad, which means it's working without power brakes. The UTB has a vacuum pump so when the toad brakes, it's using power brakes. Third, you can set the sensitivity on the UTB for more or less aggressive toad braking. To be fair, the UTB is a great system, but it's not the easiest thing in the world to install. We've installed 2 of them, one in a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Classic and the one in our 2007 G6. I wouldn't recommend the UTB to anyone for a DIY project unless they've got lots of mechanical and electrical experience. To be perfectly honest, we really liked the idea behind the Ready Brute, and especially liked the price - - about half of what the UTB and a good tow bar would cost. But we already had a good tow bar, and lots of good experience with the UTB, so we stuck with the UTB. If you decide to go with the Ready Brute, we'd love to hear how it works for you.
