Cummins ISC 8.3 350 HP Air Compressor Problem

Recommended Posts

2002 Winnebago Ultimate Advantage, after returning from trip was parking Coach, got out to look if I was back far enough and heard very loud noise coming from engine compartment, about that time the air compressor cycled and the noise quit. After a period of time and the air is out of system, start engine and while airing up the compressor doesn't make the noise. I took it for a ride yesterday stopping to check after 25 miles, no noise. Stopped for fuel after another 25 miles had to do alot of turning and braking to get into the station so used a lot of air, I got out before shutting off engine went back and it was really hammering. Again as soon as it built up air and cycled the noise went away. It seems like it dosen't make any noise when I start it after setting and the air out of system. Rather it is after it is aired up and traveling down the road, and it cycles like when psi gets down to 90ish psi it starts pumping and that is when it makes terrible noise sounds like its going to fly apart. Has anyone had this problem? Thanks for any replies.

Welcome to the forum. Most likely what you are hearing is the valve releasing excess preshure from the system. This is normal unless you arn't building air preshure on your gages.
