Sky Ute Casino

Question

Well we got bored this weekend and decided to drive the RV down to Ignacio, Colorado. They just built a new Sky Ute Casino on the reservation. We are currently here in their on-site RV park. Nice amenities, and the RV park has only two other RVs besides ours and a total of 24 full-hookup spaces. I imagine in prime season reservations are a must (very reasonable rates -- $25 for any space any time of the year).

The casino is also very nice. It has great food prices, steak and eggs for breakfast for $4.99. My wife enjoys the slots a lot more than me, so I took advantage of the great indoor pool with the river walk and spa. If you are ever down this way, it's a great place to stop. Durango is just 23 miles down the road and has a great narrow gauge railroad to take sightseeing, and Pagosa Springs with their natural hot springs is about an hour away.

Well, I'd better go check on the wife to make sure she hasn't gambled the RV away.

Thanks Chunky for the report. We love to travel in the off season for this reason. Parks all to ourselves. Ouray and Durango to do some Jeepn' as well as Moab Utah was in our plans for this next fall but alas I was screwed for vacation leave availability by my employer this year and it will have to wait another year. So much we want to explore in CO. Oh well. Like I always say: "when we retire"....

Your welcome Jeeper. There are alot of great four wheel drive roads here. We do alot of off roading by 4x4 and also our atv's but this time of year most of the roads are inaccessible due to snow but you can explore them on a snowmobile which is also fun (they also have alot of places to rent snowmobiles here). Telluride is another beautiful place a couple of hours from the camp ground here. Alot of the movie celebrities have homes there. If you ever get out this way, let me know and I can get you some great places to go Jeepin off road. My wife and I do the begginer to intermediate trails. We saw some of the expert 4x4 trails and they require winching yourself over most of them. (just not our thing)

Take Care

Thanks Chunky, we usually plan our trips for early September just after all the kids go back to school and the snow hasn't fallen yet. Telluride is also on our "to do" list and we have a pretty good idea from friends where we want to go. Black Bear road is on our list. There isn't much we can't get through with our Jeep and the winch is just a tool to get others unstuck as we don't need it much the way our rig is set up. Colorado has some great scenery and wonderful history that we really want to explore but this dang job thing is getting in my way. Sigh....someday....

Thanks for the info. If you are looking for other casinos, check out the Casino City Guide. You can look up casinos on this site. One of our favorites is Sky City Casino on I-40 in Arizona. We've made this a regular stop every time we're crossing Arizona on I-40. Another favorite of ours is Rolling Hills Casino near Corning California on I-5. There was a book published several years ago that was offered for sale but we found it difficult to use as it was organized by casino name, not geographic location. The book did give information about camping and RV parking facilities. We purchased a copy through Woodall's.

I'm sorry, but it would have to warm up for us.

example: Today it was 1 deg*ree below freezing, at 69 degrees F. (70 is freezing for me)

Sounds like a place we would like to visit. (When it warms up.)

Well it sounnds like you wouldnt enjoy our home town of Morrison too much as two weeks ago our night time low was -18 getting up to a day time high of +2. Our neighbors in Kremmling, Co got to -27 during the night so I guess we didnt have it too bad.
