Tag Axle On 1998 Southwind (Gasoline Chassis)

Recommended Posts

On the older coaches when they wanted a longer coach they would extend the chassis and add a tag for support.

To my knowledge they never had a way to raise the tag.

We have a 1998 Southwind Fleetwood that we love.

We have a tag axle and I am wondering how the tag works on a gas older motorhome.

Thanks

Welcome to the FMCA Forum !

The Tag axle on gas coaches allow the coaches to carry around 1000 lbs more. They are preset and do not have the ability to move up or down from there preset point.

This is a link to a copy of the owners manual if your's is missing.  There is a section on how to properly weight a coach equipped with a tag axle.
