Do you have a solar panel system? Or do you use your generator when boon docking?

Recommended Posts

Are you move reliant on solar panels...how large is your system?  And, does it adequately power your systems for house lights and low power consumption electronics?

OR, do you frequently use your generator, if you have one?   As you know, generators make a lot of noise and are restricted during certain hours...and you can't hardly walk away from your rig all day leaving  the generator running..?

And, what's your battery system?? One 12 volt deep cycle battery or two 6 volt batteries in series??  Have you found a significant difference between the two systems?

I have 800 watts of solar panels with a MPPT charge controller and 6 AGM golf cart batteries.  In bright sun will charge low batteries at 38 amps.

We have 400 watts solar panels, MPPT controller, 480 AHRS lithium batteries.  Rarely use the generator anymore.  AC is setup to run off batteries (for short periods, 3 hr max).

Toskeysam.  Welcome to the Forum!

Is your coach a Liberty, or did you install the lithium, after market?

Always wondered, how do you dispose of lithium battery?

960 watts (6 160 watt Carmanas) top side and a 2 Bogart charge controllers, 6 6 volt Crown batteries and do not use the generator unless over 90 degrees, so seldom used. The system will charge at 60 amps     Bogart meter inside to keep track of the action

New to all this.

How do check if solar system is working?

Most solar systems have a charge controller that will show what you are getting from the panels.
