Where to Winter?

Question

Brand new to RV Lifestyle. Heading to Arizona for the winter. Been looking at Yuma area, the temperatures seem to be warmer then higher elevations. My wife & I have never been to Arizona with a Motor Home, and are looking for suggestions on where to stay. Planning for the months of January & February, then heading to take in some of Utah, eventually making our way to Oregon to see our son's family.

Open for any suggestions. Requirements: Pool, Pet friendly, safe, we'll be dragging a Toad.

Thanks in Advance

Capt. Rich

Don't think that you should head north until late March on your way to Utah and on to Oregon. Yuma is a popular spot for the winter. Been there a bunch of times in an 18 wheeler loading produce. Do not know the crime stats. In and out with a big rig usually keeps the bad guys away. But I could see us there. Love Marine Corp jets.

Capt. Rich.  Welcome to the Forum!

Don't know about Byron's ORT, but you don't take a 18 wheeler into a RV Resort for the winter!

Yuma, Casa Grande and Buckeye seems to be all good for that 2 month period...been to Buckeye for Feb. March.  Leaf Verde RV Resort, big, friendly, safe, pool, etc.  Phoenix is 15 minutes.  Lots of shopping and golfing in area!

Utah in March, all depends on where?  Oregon in April, very nice...try the 7 Feathers RV Resort & Casino.  Beautiful place to camp!

Welcome to the forum. Yes there are lots of places in that area. Where did you live before? I like the Yuma area but some find it to dry and stark. You might spend some time exploring the Rio Grande Valley including the lower Texas gulf coast.

If you can get on base, try some Famcamps. We stayed at Davis Montham AFB in Tucson and loved it. We'll be back there in Dec. Fort Huachuca is another one. We haven't been there but we will def be checking it out for a spell. We did Yuma and it was so so. Did the Quartzsite thing too. Got dust? Safe journey and take lots of pictures.
