NO POWER WHEN PLUGGED TO SHORE POWER

Recommended Posts

2014 Itasca Ellipse 42qd

plugged into shore power pedestal 50amp and it has power.

no power inside coach.

I've checked house breakers (main).

Generator provides power just fine.

Shore power, nothing.

Inverter also seems to be working fine.

ideas?

IMHO. Your Automatic Transfer Switch is still in Generator mode.  Try gently hitting it with the heal of a shoe, should hear a clunk when it switches over.  Had that problem in a 2007 WB Tour!

The coach was plugged in and working fine.... then it stopped overnight.... Would this information make this less likely?

Have you checked the voltage at the campground riser? Then plug in the shore power cord and check the voltages.

Rich.

Pedestal power seems fine.

Please-- more facts.

How did you check CG outlet?  Pedestal breakers OFF and back ON then check with voltmeter?

On the ATS... it has a light "service required". That light is NOT on.

Also, with generator off, and not plugged into pedestal, i'm showing "wiring status error" on my panel.    With generator on it shows "wiring status ok"

IF you are safe working around 240 VAC. With generator off, unplugged from CG and inverter/charger off:

Remove lid to the ATS.

Check for any burned wires or other signs of "trauma".

What model Surge Guard do you have ?

Rich.

L1 and L2 are within range (102 – 132VAC) and there is no power. • Call TRC Technical Support at 1-800-780-4324.

With new info, forget the shoe trick.  Think you got hit by a power surge/brownout.  SG's do go bad.  Mine is hard wired in coach & portable at Post.

During the thunderstorm last night, we had several low voltage situations in the Canyon Lake area. My Progressive EMS thankfully did its job of protecting my motorhome but the fifth wheel next to me was not as lucky. He lost one of his A/C units.

If you had the same storm, a brown out could have caused your issues possibly.

Jim S.  If he's in Pipe Creek, he got the same as you and I.  Spoke with Dave Miller of TCC yesterday pm!  Lot's of T/S!

It's now raining hard at ranch, 2 miles NE of Burnet.

Have you thought about planting with native grasses that don't need to be watered? Or mowed? Makes me tired just thinking about mowing all that lawn. We have four acres, but now we only mow the 1/2 acre or so around the buildings - the rest is native pasture grasses and takes care of itself.

Richard.  There is another 9.87 ac.  Gets a haircut by Deer daily!  I still have around 50 Cedar trees to remove, now after all this rain (more expected today), it will be easier to knock them down with a tractor and pull them to burn piles!  I'm highly allergic to Cedar (not all, just the ones in this part of Texas)!  We have plenty of big oaks for the Deer & Birds. :) I do what Linda want, her property! :P

I have 2 sections in West Texas..hunting ranch & there it's what I want. 😎

I was actually in Oklahoma City... and there were no storms that night... well,  rain, but no lightning / thunder that we noticed.

I hope Eric reports back what the mobile tech found. On topic.

Mobile tech is 90% sure it's the ATS.  He didn't dig into it.... says there is no need, he's "sure" that is what it is.... I didn't mind... I was more worried about getting the full - length slide back in so we could travel.... he did the "over ride fault" trick with the controller and the slide came in... now, it seems the slide (for now) is fixed!

Guess he got the problem fixed.  He's a busy man & travels a lot for business!

We are at a different park now.... in Tulsa.... pedestal power seems fine, no power to coach... so, now it's 99% likely it's the ATS.  I had a friend that is an RV tech look at it (but did not take off cover to ATS... he didn't have his tools). He also says it's the ATS... 99% sure.

We're in Tulsa for an event at River Spirit Casino and will be boondocking 13-16 anyway... so I'm not concerned if the ATS doesn't work.... then we have to go to Nashville for an event...… on the way to Nashville I'll go by my buddies RV repair facility near Cabot Arkansas and have him replace the ATS.... I'm going to order the part and send it ahead of me.

I'll let you guys know if that did the trick!

I've still got my appointment at Texas Custom Coach Oct8 for all the scheduled maintenance and to check my suspension issue.
