Hoover Dam and Carlsbad RV Parking

Question

We are taking a trip out west with our 44' Fifth Wheel. We want to take a short trip to the Hoover Dam and to Carlsbad along the way. We will be there in early July. Is there BIG RIG parking at either location and can I take the trip up to Carlsbad pulling our large fifth wheel?  Anyone else done this with a similar rig?

Welcome to the forum. I have been there in my toad but I don't recall any good  places to park a big rig. There is a RV park in Carlsbad you might look at. When out at Carlsbad Caverns National Park the parking lot was fairley big but striped for cars and full.

4301 National Parks Hwy, Carlsbad, NM 88220, carlsbadrvpark.com, (575) 885-6333.

I  think we stayed in Vegas and drove out to the dam. The parking was  like a big parking garage. I didn't see any place to park a big rig or even pull over.

Good luck

Bill

The big rig parking for Hoover Dam is on the Arizona side and is "hit and miss". I suggest you drop the trailer in town and drive out in the pickup.

If you are in that area, don't get cold feet on seeing the dam. Find somewhere to put that big trailer. The dam, at least for me, is a must see. The structure and the history is amazing!

Absolutely amazing, take the tour to the bottom of the dam and through the area where the generators are.

re: Carlsbad RV parking. We parked the 5er at an RV park in town and drove the dually to the cave. Use Google maps to view space to park your rig at the cave, I can't remember.

We have traveled to both multable times with a 43 ft RV towing a full size truck. When visiting the dam you can park the RV at Lake Mead in one of the dry camp spots scattered around the lake or at the Railroad Pass casino. The caverns parking lot is large enough to accommodate you but you are parking in the same as the cars park, there is also an RV park down the street.
