captbarney Report post Posted February 6, 2019 I brought my RV home and parked. Turned it off and plugged into the 110v service and heard a bump or thump sound. I turned the battery switch to off. Any ideas?
wolfe10 Report post Posted February 6, 2019 Sounds like your ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch) doing its job= normal. Verify you have 120 VAC in the RV and/or locate the ATS and unplug/replug to verify.
kellyfrank Report post Posted February 6, 2019 We also have the transfer switch and surge protector, it makes the exact same sound anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes after plugging it in
wildebill308 Report post Posted February 6, 2019 Be glad it does make that sound. That means it is doing its job. Depending on the make and model the time varies slightly. Without more info on captbarneys RV I would say he has a surge gard built into his ATS. When you plug in the surge gard does its job of checking the power and in about 2 minutes if all is good allows power to flow. Bill
