Calcium deposits in water lines

Recommended Posts

Recently purchased 2004 Newmar Kountry Star and the water lines are full of Calcium rocks and are plugging up all the end uses, faucets, toilet, etc. Take off screens on faucets and shower head, turn water on and Calcium deposits blow out the hose. Put it all back together and soon it is plugged again. Don't know where all this calcium resides. Would LCR introduced into system be safe? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

troubador,

Welcome to the FMCA Forum.

Not familiar with LCR.  Perhaps CLR? Does the label say safe to use in potable water system??? That would surprise me.

I would sure start with draining and flushing the water heater and then put a couple of gallons of cheap white vinegar in an almost empty potable water tank, turn on the pump and run each faucet until you smell vinegar.  Let it sit overnight.  Repeat if necessary.

We have a portable water softener, that we got from Amazon.  When your hooked up to park water, run water hose to softener then to coach...it helps to prevent your problem, then run water thru a filtration system!  Do not run CLR thru your system...do as Brett suggested !!!

Previous owner, probably never changed water filter cartridge!
