davidjeastman Report post Posted May 30, 2010 I've towed my Jeep Wrangler 4-down for years, but after selling it to my college bound daughter (actually she stole it from me ) we purchased a Mazda3 with a 5speed manual transmission. Owner's manual says not to tow 4-down in neutral, but I've heard/read many say it's ok (as long as I rig the shifter so as not to slip into gear - thanks dciglobal, nice picture). Does anyone know for sure if it's safe to tow vehicles with manual transmissions 4-down? Appreciate any advice! Thanks, Dave

davidjeastman Report post Posted June 2, 2010 Hi Dave,What year is the Mazda? It's a 2007 Mazda3 hatchback, 2.3L 5 speed manual. Thanks, Dave
garykd Report post Posted June 2, 2010 Hi Dave, The FMCA towing guide for 2007 does not list the Mazda3 as towable four down However, Remco, http://www.remcotowing.com/vehicles says the same thing you posted. I guess one can put their money down and take their chances. Consider contacting Remco and see what they tell you over the phone.
