Sprint Mifi FMCA plan

Recommended Posts

I searched this topic and I saw some older posts but I was wondering if there was an update since T-Mobile and Sprint joined together. I ordered the device today and I was just wondering how the Sprint Mifi unlimited plan through FMCA was working for people. Of course the Sprint map shows good signal all around me but I’m sure that may not be totally accurate. I’m in North Carolina and I’m going to visit Florida some during this coming winter months so I was wondering how the service is in those areas (opinions from people, not a Sprint map). Also, what Mifi model does the plan provide (I actually forgot to ask when I signed up today)!
I figured that I would try it and if it didn’t work out good for me, I can always cancel it and I won’t be out too much money.

Any input would be appreciated!

Thanks…Trent

It has worked for us everywhere we have been. We went from Texas to Mass and Florida. We use it for TV streaming and have since cancelled Dish TV and use nothing but Youtube TV. Works fantastic!!!

We joined the Tech Connect Plus plan in early June and received the M2000 cellular modem on the 16th (had to have it sent ahead on a 3 week trip).  Note this is not the M8000 that was previously used.  This one has both 4G and 5G capabilities.  I was told that this change is due to the completed merger.  The device works very well.  Previously we had used our Verizon cell phone as a hot-spot.  Direct comparison between the two approaches were positive-- similar upload and download speeds and ping times.  For example, in Lansing, MI, the Verizon numbers were (download, upload & ping) 43.4 Mbps, 3.1 Mbps and 60 ms whereas the M2000 T-mobile device numbers were 25.5 Mbps, 2.7 Mbps, 59 ms. The Verizon connection was 4G; the Sprint/T-Mobile connection was 5G.  In Rural Georgia where we've had problems with cell service it was Verizon (5.8,  0.391, 44) and M2000 (55.3, 4.1,  48), both on 4G.  During this trip we ran test at I-75 rest stops, at campgrounds and a few other locations.  Typically, the numbers were similar or better for the M2000 connection. The one exception was a Tennessee State Park surrounded by mountains where the speed was too slow and variable to support streaming.  Otherwise, we used it just like our home internet with multiple devices connected and lots of streaming.  We've had no problems and are extremely pleased with the service.

I ordered it yesterday morning and surprisingly received it today. It’s the M2000. Unpacked it and it was already activated and so far today it’s worked awesome. I hope it works out because I like the fact that it’s a truly unlimited plan.

Time will soon tell!

Can anyone tell me what delivery service it came through?? I reached out for shipping info and have received zero answers so I’d like to know at least what delivery company it’s through. I can’t be home to sign for it if I have zero knowledge of when or who it’s coming through!🤦🏻‍♀️

Here is the reply I received

At this moment there is no immediate way for us to upgrade in this sense as it depends on the eligibility of each line. Based on your device activation date, it looks like its only been on our account for about 3 months, so it still has a ways to go before its eligible. This could change depending on the kinds of changes Sprint makes to our account or to their network, especially if they were to ever change to the point where the MiFi 8000 can’t reach the network any longer, but at this time we have not been informed of any changes like that.

My guess is this will change next year as TMobile announced it is shutting down Sprints LTE network in mid 2022

I came here to ask advice about this. Does anyone have info on whether this program is even expected to continue?

My family is leaving the country in a few weeks, for 3 months. If TMobile can't or won't continue service for us once the Sprint pipes go down, then we think now is the time for us to cancel.

Hi all,

Just wanted to see if I could help answer some of the questions being posted here and clear up any confusion that may exist. The device FMCA is currently using is the Inseego Mifi M2000, which will eventually have access to both the Sprint and T-Mobile networks once the merger is completed. There are no plans to discontinue this service once the merger to T-mobile is complete, as we are a rather large account with them and have already worked it out with our account leads.

In regards to everyone receiving the new 5G device, Sprint has not provided any details on if there will be a forced upgrade for our users in the future, although i would say this is the most likely scenario based on the upcoming changes.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to direct them to techconnect@fmca.com, as it is an address we monitor daily for any inquiries.

Thanks, and have a great day!

Hi Brett Wulfeck,

We have the M2000 and found that it isn't strong enough to be used in both cabins of our 40' coach. Would a magic box help with this? Thanks,

ML

Is it possible to get. a tracking number?  I order on Friday and suspect it won't ship out till Monday and it would be nice to know which day I need to stay home to sign for it.

I was told the FMCA plan was unlimited,,, but when I look at my M2000 which arrived this week, it says I have a 10GB plan. That's not going to be enough if we are traveling for any length of time.

Marilyn,

Welcome to the Forum. I believe the following might help set you Jet Pack.

What you are seeing is just the devices internal meter, you can fix that by following these steps.

Please use the following steps to navigate to the web portal on your hotspot and remove the data cap that’s displayed on the home screen of the device. This should also resolve the issue with the speeds that you are seeing as well since you are over the preset 10GB limit:

Factory Reset the device by going to “Menu”, and then select “Settings”. Under “Settings”, swipe the screen all the way up until you see the “Factory Reset” option. Select that, and then hit continue on the next page. This will fully reset the device and blow out the current data usage and memory of the device, which will return the speeds to normal.
Once the reset is complete, gather the new name and password on the device by tapping the “Wi-fi Name/Password” button on the home screen. You will then need to connect to the hotspot using a laptop or tablet.
Open up a web browser once connected (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Etc.)
Go to the following address: (Note: Refrain from entering .com or www. or http:// when entering this address as it will not open if you do. You can also just click the link in the email and it should open right up.) 192.168.1.1
Once you are logged into the web portal, look for the section that says “Data Usage”.
Click the arrow pointing to the right under the Data Usage section, and then type in the password when prompted (Password is the password that you use to connect to the unit over Wi-Fi, you can find this by tapping the WiFi Name/WiFI Password button on the home screen of the device on the right side.)
On the next screen you will see a section titled Maximum Data Limit. Click on the text box, and add 3 more zeros to the end, and then hit “Save Changes”. This should remove the data cap which should prevent any sort of throttling on the device.
Check the hotspot as it should now say “X.XX of 10000 GB remaining”. If you see that on the home screen of the device, the change was successful.

Herman

I had the MiFi 2000 for a while and can confirm that the usage is unlimited. Ignore the 100 gig message I was using 300+ gig/month while I had it.

hermanmullins  With respect I understand what your instructions are but all it is doing, IMO, is changing what is being displayed. I seriously doubt that any cellular carrier is going to allow everyone to login to the unit and change their plan limits.

Seems like every forum I'm on recently has a thread on how bad the tech support is for the Sprint Connection/T-Mobile and how people have made numerous calls without return calls and emails going unanswered.  This reflects bad on IT department but also on the entire FMCA organization.  I think the management needs to mange and get IT department and FMCA on better path.  Just my two cents........

Guys, the JetPack is only a device that handles your internet coming and going to the cloud (internet). The data carrier is not allowing anyone other than FMCA to converse and or make changes to the plan. The instructions given by Herman only allows you to set the hotspot to not show low amount of band usage to a far greater amount than you will ever use. If it shows only 10 gig allowed and you have already used 300 gig within a month, then just set the darn thing and quit bickering about it, nothing in the world as we now know it will ever be perfect.

Please see my response tp cwswine"s other post about FMCA's lousy IT department, and I have no affiliation with FMCA other than eight consecutive years of membership. I retired after 34 years of service as an IT engineer, and I promise you that I have seen many poor IT support groups over this time frame. The IT support within FMCA right now is very good considering what it went to immediately after tmoning's departure. MERRY CHRISTMAS to all.

Now that is funny.  With threads of people not getting call backs nor responds to E-Mails sent saying that is "very good" support.  I ran and owned a large ISP business and support was everything.  If customers can't get online they not likely to stay around very long.  I still say this is management problem and the managers need to manage.

Let''s tell that guy that has sent several emails, phone calls and webforms and had not heard back that don't worry the tech support is better now than it was.  LOL
