First Year Out (Owning, Fulltime Living, Pets and FMCA Membership)

Recommended Posts

We purchased a 2006 Tiffin Allegro Bus (which was a year Long Research Plan).  We also Sold our small Acreage and are Traveling as Fulltime RV'ers which made for a high learning curve, but at least one of us are mechanically gifted.  We are managing repairs as things occur and seem to be doing well, but our current problem is Navigating FMCA (not to their detriment.  To Ours).  We are to attend FMCA Sunsets + Saguaros and was only able to secure a 50amp Site.  We see Septic & Water services will be offered at a price "until Sold Out" which scares us because we are so use to FHP's.  Based on our current use we will need to use their services Daily.  Financially we are on the edge with funds spent on Convention and Membership.  We also want to be at Sunsets + Saguaros and experience a Rally/Convention our first year.  We are considering getting a refund, stay off site and paying daily admission to Events, but that would be inconvenient.  I guess this is just a Cry for Help in this decision.

Welcome to FMCA and the Forum.

What you are suggesting is doable. What I would suggest is to find an RV Park in the Tucson area and when you are Parked go on the Grounds after Sunday noon. Take your packet you received with you and go to the office and ask to be down graded from 50 amp to Passport. A Passport give you everything except Parking on the Fairgrounds.

What size holding tanks do you have? You should have at least 3 days if you go in with empty Gray and Black tanks and a full water tank. You have to conserve everything but it is doable with say one dump and one water fill. Granted you can't shower every day but hay a sponge bath and good a deodorant you should be good to go.

Good Luck and again Welcome,

Herman

Why? How could you fill both black and gray water tanks daily?

You have a while till you go in start practicing a little conservation in your FHP's site. Close your tanks and fil your fresh water and shut it off at the park hydrant. Dry camp at your site. See how long you can go till your tanks are full. Most people can go 3-4 days+.

"until Sold Out" usually means you should pick a day 2-3 after you arrive and sigh up for service  when you get there. They generally calculate how many sites they can do and when that number is contracted for they are sold out.
