Nobody has contacted me.  I did the online form with a different shipping address.  I submitted a ticket on Wednesday describing my situation and gave the date when I am to depart this place.  No response so called and left a message on Friday and today.

The Inseego M2000 does support all the AT&T 4G LTE bands.  It does not support any of the AT&T 5G bands.

Then tech connect needs to get their ---- together

Interesting - my M2000 does not. It seems to be carrier locked to Tmo/Sprint as it says my other carrier (Verizon) SIM is invalid. The AT&T SIM that comes with the Moxee is too large to fit in the M2000's nano SIM slot.

If the gold contacts on the card are the same dimensions you can cut it to fit

Understood. I'm more interested in getting the M2000 unlocked, though. I have a ticket in with TechConnect, but in the meantime I wonder if anyone here. knows if TC will unlock the old device so I can throw my Verizon SIM in it.

I have made the transition.  I now have the Moxie modem and it is working.  Unfortunately it is only 4g.  I did read we can use service on our own device to get 5g.  Has anyone done this? If so what modem?  I just spent hours on phone and internet with AT&T trying to buy a netgear  nighthawk, AT&T is clueless about this account,  it was very frustrating.  I am going to try and visit a local store to see if I get further.
the Netgear Nighthawk M6 looks like it would be perfect.  I just can’t figure out how to buy it without signing up for a new AT&T account.

You can buy one through other vendors not just ATT

They just called me.  Guess I was not high up on their list since I was one of the first to signup.

I read the same thing you did, I think, but the way I read it it wasn't saying you'd get 5G, just that the SIM (and its 4G only plan) would work in a 5G hotspot device. Now I can't find that blurb, of course. 😀

The Nighthawk looks like a nice device. I'll be interested to see if it's available without a new AT&T plan.

Found it, and you may be right. The wording is a bit vague though.

Q: Will this plan come with 5G?
A: The AT&T Moxee Mobile Hotspot that comes with the plan is only 4G LTE. But if a member chooses to purchase their own 5G device it is usable on the AT&T plan.

The best answer can be gotten from the FMCA IT department. Sorry Josh is on Vacation this week but ask for the Tech Connect Tech and they will direct your call to someone that can help you.

Good luck and post what you find here, Thanks,

Herman

I received my "Moxee" hotspot a couple of days ago.  After installing the SIM card and battery and charging it up, I changed the SID and password to make it my own.  The next thing I did was a speedtest.  I'm setting in my sticks and bricks house doing this.  I thought the signal looked pretty fair, about 3 bars but the throughput looks awful.  I've attached the results of the first test - a second test looked similar.  No one is going to be happy with these speeds and I wouldn't expect them to.  I'm going out next week Monday-Friday to a site where my old Spring/T-Mobile worked fine.  If I get the same results, I'll be cancelling this plan.  No sense in paying for something that's useless.

No call, just received it without a call. As for the m2000, they told the caller they will send them a smaller sim upon request

I think you're incorrect.  The new Netgear Nighthawk M6 and M6 Pro 5G were just introduced a couple months ago and are AT&T branded for at least one year.  They may become available from other vendors after that.

I sent the following email to our FMCA business manager yesterday and hope to get a response soon.  I'm attaching three speedtest.net screen shots of the best I can apparently hope for with this AT&T service obviously being throttled.

Dear Mr. Smith,

I would like to make you aware of the issues being encountered with the new AT&T hotspot plan.  I just completed an online ticket and attached it below.  Basically, I do not believe AT&T is providing whatever was promised to FMCA.  Also, in its present form, it is no where near a replacement for the excellent service we’ve received from T-Mobile, especially for $10 more.  Moreover, AT&T sent us the cheapest Chinese “Moxee” hotspot that can be purchased at your local Best Buy or Amazon for less than $50!  With this cheap hotspot the user can not even use 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz WiFi at the same time!

I hope to see a resolution to these issues, otherwise I and many members will be looking elsewhere for their hotspot internet needs.

Thank you for your time.

--AT&T is apparently not providing the service it has promised.  The AT&T Moxee I received yesterday is being seriously throttled!  I just drove to three know AT&T towers in my area and parked within 200 yards.  Moxee shows five bars signal in each test.  Using Speedtest.net the download jumps to about 30 ----Mbps down but immediately drops to 11 Mbps at all three towers!  I have also done this test at my home at about 4 AM this morning again with five bars, and the download/upload is identical!  Jumps to 30 Mbps and drops immediately to 11 Mbps.  In each test the upload speed also jumps to about 20 Mbps down ----and immediately drops to 12 Mbps!  I have screenshots of each test but see no place to attach here.

--With this obvious throttling, AT&T is basically worthless to me as a replacement for T-Mobile.  Especially with me paying an addition $10 per month!  I do hope to hear back soon with a resolution from AT&T.

--Thank you.

Not sure why people want SIMs for there Inseego m2000s.  They will only get 4G service.  The M2000 does not support AT&T's 5G bands.  It only supports AT&T's 4G bands.

Well the Moxie only has a cat 4 modem, small memory, slow CPU, not as many connections allowed, I could go on.  That is the slowest one possible.  The M2000 supports 4x4 and 2x2 MIMO and is significantly faster.  It automatically switches to a Cat 22 LTE modem if no 5g is found.  Sure it may not support the ATT 5g bands however it will be faster than the Moxie in the same location since it supports more frequency bands.  I have the Verizon version (M2100) so I will see if I can 5g when my device arrives.  I will also be trying it in my WiFiRangers Cat 12 modem.

As said above and I had just purchased the M2000 on ebay 2 weeks before this change to AT&T. It has to be better than this cheap Moxee piece of ____.

That is what I thought.  I will try going to an AT&T store.  They couldn’t help me via chat or talking with an AT&T online specialist.

I just read on MIA (RV Mobile Internet) that they believe the ATT plan is the same as the ATT Busness plan where max speed will be 12mbs.  Can anyone here confirm this or tell us if they are getting better speeds on the Moxie?

So, my question is.......is this due to the Moxie or, as you suggested, throttling?

I believe it is throttling.  As I stated, on each tower I connected to, the Moxee shot up to about 30 Mbps immediately and then settled back to about 11 Mbps after a second or two.

I received my plan and moxie a few days ago.

1) I did Speedtest and was getting 25 down and that’s about as good as anything around here (2 wooded miles from tower).

2) The SIM card is a Micro Sim, not a resizable or Nano sim as most use.  This is a problem for anyone wanting to swap to a more modern device.

3) So I figured I’d go to the AT&T store and have them swap out the SIM for a newer, variable size one.  2 hours later, I’m stuck because users are not authorized to change sim size, FMCA account master holders must do it.  I tried to get someone on the phone while at the store to authorize to no avail.  So, I put in a ticket to FMCA and hopefully they can send an updated SIM.

4) Evidently all that messing around at the AT&T store trying to swap a sim, has alerted the Fraud department and my SIM has been locked as it’ under investigation for fraud.  I guess somehow they will call FMCA master account holders to see if I’m ok and turn it back on.

So, lets see how this is going to work, hate to have something break on the road, can’t get anything done at an AT&T store, have to go back to Tech Connect and see if they can authorize someone to send something somewhere.

A bit frustrated but not beaten.  I’m still hopeful this will be worked out and the plan will prove valuable.

Mark
