Update on Herman

Recommended Posts

I just talked to Joe Wright, Herman's friend. Herman can now say a few words, yes, no, shake his head yes or no. He cannot swallow regular water as he chokes on it so they give him "thickened"water. His right side is still paralyzed and he is going to therapy 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. His feeding tube was removed from his nose and is now inserted directly into his stomach.

Joe is on his way to visit him and if there is anything else to report, Joe will call me.

It's going to be a long trying recovery, I hope someone tells him the entire FMCA family is rooting for him.

Talked to Herman''s friend Joe and got an update. Herman is still paralyzed on the right side and has contracted a urinary tract infection since they put the feeding tube directly into his stomach. Once that clears up, hopefully by next week, he will be moved to a rehab facility. He is doing therapy six days a week, three hours at a time. Bobbi has requested that no emails be sent to Herman. He gets agitated because he is unable to answer. Keep Herman in your thoughts

This is the last I heard from Lone Star Secretary, Dianna Huff.

Mon, Dec 12 at 7:53 PM

I talked to Bobbie last Friday.  Herman has been moved to a rehab facility
near her home and he gets 3 hours of therapy a day. He still can not talk or
walk.  They have not gotten him out of his bed yet, but she is hoping they
will at least get him sitting in a chair for part of the day.  He has 100 days of
therapy paid by the insurance company, before she has to make a decision
on what to do.

Lets all say a prayer for his quick and complete recovery. That could be any of us.

Strokes are bad news.  The person can completely recover, partly recover or never recover....all are different.   A month ago, my SIL had a bad stroke...took her to the ER, where they said she virtually died, then sent her to a specialist.  The specialist did brain surgery by partly removing the back of her skull, she was 350 lbs and in bad shape.  Fast forward three weeks...in a wheel chair, laughing and talking, headed to rehab.  You never know.

My prayers go  for Bobbie, to keep her strong and healthy, both physically and mentally.  Herman is well-cared for, but Bobbie is faced with the harsh realities of future decisions, while remaining healthy and strong to withstand the tremendous stress of daily life. Then she must prepare for the possibility of being Herman's caregiver in the future.

Very sad news about Herman.  Without doubt his last coach ride was to heaven.   Many prayers and condolences for his family.
