Yes, it was an experience but not something to cause permanent victim status because you didn’t get a parade. I don't know what your back ground is, but the US had advisors will all the ARVN combat units....and they were "boots on the ground." I'm an ROTC grad, and one of my assistant PMS instructors, a major, was KIA as an advisor a VN Infantry unit. I spent two tours, one in the artillery and one flying a Chinook.
