Radio Removal

Recommended Posts

We have a 2006 also. The radio is probably a 2005 Ford model. Mine had a 6 CD player. You should be able to remove the bezel from the front of the radio then there are 2 small holes on each side. Possibly you have a small removal tool. It looks like a two tine fork with no handle. If not, four 3 inch long pieces of #12 solid copper wire may be used. Insert one in each hole. Carefully, probe the holes. You may need to use a pair of pliers to work the wire. When they are in the correct position a spring clip on each side will release the radio, and it may be pulled out the front. Check the wire plugs on the back to be sure that none have come loose.

I had to replace my radio earlier this year because the CD player failed. I was able to get a replacement at Fry's Electronics. The new radio has bluetooth, but only a single CD player. I was able to add an XM tuner. You should have an antenna for XM prewired. The connector is under the dash on the driver's side.
