chashenry Report post Posted September 29, 2011 My RV has been stored for 10 months. When the starting button is pushed on the Gen set it makes a clanking sound followed by a slight ringing sound. It is a 6.5 Onan Emerald Plus, in a 1998 Mountain Aire, but has only 441 hrs on it. It worked well 10 months ago. The house batteries test OK but do drop to about 12.4 volts after about 2 hours with the fridge running. Any help would be appreciated greatly. Charlie Spencer, charlesspen@gmail.com. desertdeals69 Report post Posted September 29, 2011 Does the gen crank and run? It sounds like the starter pinion is broken. Its made of plastic and breaks somewhat frequently.
