Different Tire Valves

Recommended Posts

When I had the tires on my RV replaced, the installer used new valves, which appear to have a little ball bearing in the end instead of valve caps. I am having difficulty putting air in the tires now.

Does this type of valve require a special inflator?

Thanks,

JT

JT,

Did you have EQUAL or other "in tire" balancing product used? If so, they do require a special valve so the product does not clog the valve and lead to leaks.

In any case if you are near where they were installed, go by the dealer and have them address the issue. And, if on the road find a truck/HD tire store that handles the same brand tire.

I think the items with the ball ends are valve caps that are used by trucks where the valve chuck will hang on the stem without holding on to it. This a special valve chuck. The ball recesses to allow air flow in or out of the valve stem without removing the cap.

Did they look like this, the cap on right?

If they are the ones you have, call Alcoa Wheel's Customer Service and ask them.- 800.242.9898
