Charging Dash A/C Unit

Recommended Posts

I still have the 1999 Dutch star... lol.

Can I recharge the A/C for the front of the coach for the driver just like a car? 1 or 2 cans and is there a inlet port somewhere in the rear diesel eng. compartment?

Yes, your dash air is basically a larger version of our car A/C. So if you have equipment and knowledge of automobile A/C systems, you are good to go.

No idea where your high/low ports are located. No real convention on that-- both mine are up front near the dryer/evaporator.

Assuming you have 134A freon you can buy a charge kit at the local auto parts store and there is only one usable port on the A/C compressor that would allow this kind of connection. You don't open anything, just connect the nozzle to the port, run the engine, turn the A/C on high and follow the charging directions. If there is already a leak you are just pushing the freon in one side and it will come back out the other. The only thing gained is a lighter wallet.
