Awning Screen Room

We have ordered an Allegro 36LA and have been scouring the Internet for ideas that we might want. One of the items we are not sure about is screen rooms that attach to the awning. We are not full timers but plan on taking trips lasting a month or so at a time. Perhaps staying one or two weeks at each stop.

Does anyone have any experience with awning attached screen rooms?

Are they worth the hassle?

Do you use them much?

Can they be used at most parks?

BTW: we are new to RVing.

For what it's worth: We had a screen room for a Class C. Put it up once where we had a leased campsite. Too much hassle, some bugs still got in, wind was a worry, had to take it down wet, took up way too much room, and had a "slight" smell to the fabric and mildew (previous owner put away wet).

We have a 12'x12' screenhouse now. We put it up once in the last four years. It went to TX with us twice-never needed-for five months at a time.

Unless you are going to camp in the deep woods forget it. You can usually drag the picnic table under your awning and use some bug spray such as Yard Guard if the bugs bother you.

We have a 12'x12'x8' screen house which we use quite often. It's pretty easy to set up (takes about 5 minutes). Its open on the bottom so usually we set it up and drop it over whatever passes for a picnic area at the campsite (or set up our own tables -- which takes longer ).

I'd go that way before the awning based ones.

We have a screen that just comes down in front of the awning. You need tabs to slide into the awning tube and some S hooks, tent stakes, and cords to attach the bottom of the awning to. Buy the tabs and S hooks from Camping World, I believe the tabs and S hooks were in the same package. Buy the ones that are made of material as opposed to the plastic ones, that way you can leave them on the awning tube all the time. We use ours in Fl. for the winter months, takes about 10 minutes to set up. Also gives you a little privacy.

Go on a few trips and see if a screen room is something you would like to have and would use. On several occasions, we have looked at something, 'thought' it would be fun and we'd use it and gotten it. One item I can think of is still in the basement, still in it's original wrappings.
