Ice Maker Water Supply Feed Tube Freezing Up

Recommended Posts

I have a 2003 Newmar, Kountry Star diesel pusher.

My NDR1292 Dometic Brand Ref. has started to freeze up not allowing water to flow into ice cube maker. I've pull the tube out and clean it. It will make one tray of ice and then freeze up. Any ideas to fix this??

Have you noticed any change in the size of the cubes? If they get too big then the water will not drain out of the supply line inside the refrigerator and block the line until is thawed out.

If the line up the back (open to the outside via the side and roof vents) is freezing, vs a blockage inside the refrigerator, look carefully at the line. Many ice maker lines have an electric heat "sheath" around them to minimize just such an occurrence. If not, check with Dometic for such a device.

And, if the problem is in the refrigerator itself, start defrosting the freezer section. Sometimes the feed tube between the incoming line and ice cube tray becomes frozen.

To add to what Brett said, my unit has an electrical wire that wraps around the incoming line that keeps it warm.
