Opinion About Motorhome Specialities In Texas

Recommended Posts

I have a story to tell and I have also heard similar.I bought my 2008 Allegro Bus from them.Talk about lie. There is a salesman called Cowboy.

DO NOT deal with him. He is so full of chit its not funny. He is a deceitful liar. The only reason I went through with the deal was because I was dumb enough to send them 5K based on pictures and his word. I then drove 1320 miles from my winter vacation spot to pick up the unit.

The price was well below Market value and for good reason. I am a mechanic, carpenter, RV tech type person. It was supposed to be ready to go when we got there. NOT EVEN close. It was January 5 and he has asked us to delay trip by 2 days so we did. It should have been longer.

We get there and the things that needed repair and adjustment and replaced was a mile long. The one single thing that really really picks my butt to this day is his lying and his boss backing him 100%. (LARGE EG)

I was at my home in Canada (BC). I asked him on his phone as he stood in the Motorhome if there were any cracked tiles and he said NO.I got there and there were 5 cracked floor tiles. When I started looking through the unit the dryer made a bad racket and had to be pulled and adjusted,The Aqua-hot exhaust pipe was squished flat and had to be replaced, The engine AC was empty of Freon, the computer keyboard was not working(has factory front dash computer). I had to stay over because of all the things that were wrong and or they missed. They paid the hotel bill but only after I raised cane. They lied about the previous owner etc etc etc. Long Long story and I can't give it all here.

SO YES be very careful when dealing with this place. They offer the lowest prices anywhere and that's what sucks people in.

The head service guy was fantastic and kept apologizing for the mess we found ourselves in. He said he was looking for a new job because he goes through this same deal all the time. He without his boss guy knowing gave me about 500$ in diesel fuel and LPG.

If I was just another older senior with no RV knowledge instead of middle aged well versed mechanic/RV tech I would have really been screwed because I would have been sent out the door as is.

With your post it sounds to me like you've gone out of your way to get the one guy who's telling the truth (the service mgr) fired. You might want to reconsider your post regarding putting him in a difficult situation by posting what he gave to you. JMHO

If I were you I'd stay as far away from motorhome spec.as you can!!! I bought from them in 2011 and will never do business with those bums again!!! Service after the sale was non-existent! Bought a new unit (paid cash for it) took it back for warranty work and nothing was done. They had the unit for 30 days and nothing and I mean nothing was done! Took the Monaco back 4 time(400 miles round trip each time) and still nothing was done..Called Monaco and no help their either!! To this day, warranty work has never been done!!! Monaco since then has changed hands several times, so ,Beware!!! This dealership is only as good as service after the sale!! Which is NONE!! I won't even drive threw Alvarado Tx..I go around!! I have spent a lot of money getting this new Monaco into shape... So..Buyer Beware and stay away from motorhome spec in Alvarado Tx and Monaco MH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HenryPatterson,

Was there other Monaco dealer to get warranty work? And why did Monaco refuse you warranty repairs? Sounds very odd to me

I believe you about your dilemma, just wondering.

There was (at the time) no Monaco dealers in Okla. so every effort to get warranty work done entailed a 400 mile trip...I did find a dealer to do some work but they were so backed-up it was ridiculous..They told me they take care of theirs first(which I understand) Monaco never refused warranty work. They said take it to my dealer and they would see it got fixed....Well here we go again!! Dealer said they ordered parts, Monaco said they didn't no what they were talking about.. Finally Monaco said they sent dealer a new dash(new one was delaminated),dealer said they never received it. so on and so on. meanwhile Monaco sells a couple of times and my 300K MH sits and falls apart. Mostly everything wrong is fixed by adjusting or is cosmetic. Wife still can.t open front door cause its so far out of adjustment..and dash has never been fixed, but over the last year got most everything else fixed(no thanks to motorhome spec. or Monaco)..Next time I'll buy from local dealer regardless of the brand,or I'll do without!! OK, I'm done crying!!

OK the reason I asked you said called Monaco and no help either but then you said Monaco had sent out the part? You should have had them send you the dash.

That's one thing about Tiffin is you can take it almost anywhere(any repair shop) and they will pay to have the unit repaired.I wonder why Monaco would have made you drive 800 miles to have small warranty repairs done.

Anyhow since I had my "BAD" experience with these guys I have over lots of forums run into many many people who agree with my assessment of these guys.

OK I guess it is what it is. I needed 3 sealed window units for my 08 bus. One being the large Drivers window.I was the second owner

it was year 4 of 5 year window warranty. I emailed TIFFIN.They shipped me free of all charges the windows I requested right to my doorstep.

When I was looking I did some research on line and found several coaches in my price range that were worth looking at in person when I got to Motor home specialties in Alvarado I said I was looking for a used coach with payments under $1000.00 a mounth. They basically said they didn’t have one I could afford. They claimed not to have the ones on their web site. I decided they were right.

O.K. Am usually a reader and not a poster, but this outfit is too awful not to give my .02 cents. Have recently had contact with this company. Over last 10 days have called and emailed repeatedly. In sum: flashy and enticing website which promises much. . . until you need results. RUN AWAY. FAST. I, thankfully, found Vogt RV and am extremely pleased with my purchase. Pick up the new unit Thursday.

We purchased our 2011 Monaco Knight from Motor Home Specialist. I had no problems with Motor Home Specialist or Monaco. I live 300 miles from Alvarado. Had most warranty work done in San Antonio. I did have a leveling jack failure in San Diego, but Monaco handled the repair with a local repair facility without problem. Later had some minor warranty work done in Coburg, OR while in the NW. BTW, Monaco has only been sold once since 2011, and that was very recently.

I believe you can find good and bad experiences about any dealer or manufacturer if you try hard enough.

Well, lets see: After they (Monaco) filed for bankruptcy, Navstar bought them. Now the company that owns Fleetwood owns them.

By the way HERMAN are you coming up this year to the Shawnee show?

Let me no,we need to meet!

Like most post here, stay away. I drove 600 miles to look at a coach, could not extend slides to see it opened up cause batteries were dead. Stayed over a night at Jellystone campground and returned next day at their request. Yep you guessed it nothing changed. They are rude liars and the GM is a jerk.

Do your homework-check check check the unit if you buy from them-make sure all promises are fulfilled before you give final payment-If uncomfortable, walk. They do have great prices but it starts to deteriorate after that.

My experience last Saturday was vastly different then what many of you have described. I purchased a coachman mirada which is one of their lowest priced coaches and was treated like a king. I would recommend my salesman (Mike Razo) to any of my friends or family. The respect and care I was given, you would have thought I was purchasing the top of the line foretravel on the lot. The stories above remind me of my experience at the Dothan, AL camping world in 2008. It was awful and took nearly a year, countless phone calls and emails to end up with a marginally acceptable solution. Motorhome Specialist was a night and day difference, they made the experience and absolute pleasure and I would not hesitate to do business with them again.

Thanks for posting your positive experience at Motorhomes of Texas, Dougnorm.

They sell hundreds if not thousands of RV's each year and of course there will be those that are not satisfied for whatever reason. There is a saying in business, "do a great job for a customer and they may tell one person; do a bad job and they will tell twenty people".

We have all heard about Bob Tiffin and the great customer service you receive when buying their product but my friends with Tiffin products often need to drive to Red Bay to get the service. You don't necessarily get it from their dealers.

Henry P,

Really sorry to hear of your troubles with Monaco. We have nothing but good to say about Monaco and the way they have taken care of us-- even after ASV took over last year.

We stopped at Coburg Factory repair center on our way home this spring and they went above and beyond to take care of our problems.
