Monaco Parts: Door Latches, Handle ...

Recommended Posts

I am trying to find compartment door latches for Monaco products. I know I can get them from Monaco, but is there a jobber who would carry them at a cheaper price. A company advertises in Family Motor Coaching magazine that they carry Monaco door latches but, in fact, they don't.

I am also looking for a product to remove the 3M mask on my RV. I know that such a product exists but I do not know the brand name.

Would anyone ever used such a product ?

I am also looking for the grab handle (transparent plastic) on my Holiday Rambler Scepter. Monaco sells only the whole assembly, whereas I only need the plastic handle. Would anyone know of a jobber that would sell that ?

Can't help with the 3M mask, but ... have you tried RV salvage places for the handle?

Google RV salvage parts and you will get several responses. A salvage yard will most likely only sell the whole grab-handle assembly; not just the handle. When you Google, start by adding your zip code to the search info. This will show salvage places close to your home (if any). If not that, you might remove the handle assembly and see if you can find a manufacturers name. You could Google that name and might find a website where you could get parts from the vendor without the Monaco markup. A lot of the parts in RVs are made by vendors that sometimes sell parts or assemblies.

Good luck my friend.

I am currently in the process of removing the film from the front of my RV. It is a slow and a difficult process. I am sure the difficulty I am experiencing is partly due to its age (10 years). I am using a miniscraper (plastic razor blade) and Vinyl-Off, sold by Crystaltek, (http://www.crystaltek.us.com).

It's taking approximately 2 hours to remove one square foot. Technical support at Crystaltek has been excellent and they are sending me a sample of a more aggressive removal solution to try. I had two estimates from body shops for removing the mask, one was $1400 and the other was $1500 which I thought was high but now I understand why. One of those shops said he has had good success painting over the film to match the coach and offered to do mine for $600. It will still look like a mask because you still have the raised edges and butt joints; however, since I have started the removal that is no longer an option. I will report back if I find anything better to help remove this vinyl.

Try Northwest RV Supply (http://nwrvsupply.com). They have had a lot of Monaco parts. Give them a call since their website does not reflect the entire inventory.

astmi,

Go to ebay under Monaco parts.

I bought a entrance handle lighted for $15.00. They also have handles and more.

As for the removal of the front plastic covering good luck. Removed mine. Took 60 hrs and had to repaint. Just would not come off. Tried heat, cold, remover, scraper and nothing worked. Ended up with razor blade and repaint.

Good luck.

Many manufacturers use TriMark latches.

If that is what yours are, a lot of people sell them. PPL is one that has a good reputation. See here http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/doors-rv-locks-handles-storage.htm#Locks%20-%20Baggage%20Compartment

There is also a company that makes the latches with metal rather than plastic plungers, See HERE http://motorhomelatches.com/
