Chicago Campgrounds

Question

We plan to take the grand kids to Chicago this summer.

We would like to spend several nights near the downtown area convenient to the museums and other downtown attractions.

I haven't had any luck locating any full hookup campgrounds anywhere close to downtown.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thank you,

Ron Jacobs

Ron, try http://www.rvparkreviews.com/. There you might find a park that meets you needs. While in Chicago don't miss the Museum of Science and Industry and the Navy Pier. While going through Missouri and like to check out RV stores try Colaws RV Salvage in Carthage. Also stop in Springfield, MO at the Origional Bass Pro Shop. Running stream, large fish tank and much more. The kids will like it.

Safe trip.

You may want to try staying in northern Indiana at or near Indiana Dunes State Park or Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore.

The state park has a campground; I am not sure if the National Lakeshore does nor not.

Train website:

Area info site:

I have been told there are several ways to stay at campgrounds in this area and get to a nearby train station for a ride into Chicago.
