Miniumum Amps From Alternator

Recommended Posts

I have a 2007 HR Imperial ISL 400 Cummins that is showing a red battery light on the air leveling system at the drivers side controls.

My alternator is charging at 13.9 amps at idle, and 13.5 at 2000 RPM's. Do I need to get alternator checked, check belt tension, or is it the batteries? Chassis batteries are 2 years old.

Thanks

Mark,

Welcome to the FMCA Forum.

Are you getting these VOLTAGE readings at the B+ terminal of the alternator? At the chassis batteries?

If not, would be interested in a reading at the chassis batteries.

Mark. Welcome also !!!

The reading on today's gauges is in volts not amps.
The reading is quite normal regarding the numbers posted.

What make and model leveling system is the coach equipped with? Hydraulic or Air Leveling ?
The red light might be and indication that one of your jacks has not has not retracted all the way?
By chance is there a green light also ? This indicates power to the system.

Rich.

Mark, my pad has several red, orange lights and 1 green.
Green = Travel.

When I hit Air I get 4 reds if the coach level. If the coach is not level I get a orange light where it needs leaving. I then hit the Air button the second time to auto level the coach. The Red Air light will flash till level and the Orange light will go out and the Air light goes to solid red.

They have no bearing on the charging system.

Herman
