rorr1821 Report post Posted September 16, 2015 It has been my understandings that a 50 amp plug found on most motorhomes has two hot legs (leg 1 and leg 2) , neutral and a ground. It is my understanding that both leg 1 and leg 2 can carry 50 amp's. This being true and using Ohm's law you have the use of 6000 watts on each leg for a total available 12,000 watts.That being the case you should have access to 100 amp's adding both legs together. It is also my understanding that manufactures will split the high loads between the 2 legs to avoid tripping breakers. A recent conversation on this issue has put this in question. WHAT IS THE TRUTH? wolfe10 Report post Posted September 16, 2015 Yup, 100% correct. And, one additional point. The two hots (L1 and L2) come off opposite sides of the box, so 240 VAC between them.
